Job Description
Position Summary - NEW ROLE
The Supply Chain Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for end-to-end supply chain performance in a plastics-centric contract manufacturing environment. This new role for the company is focused on aligning incoming customer demand, material availability, inventory, supplier performance, and internal production resources to support on-time delivery, schedule attainment, and efficient execution of customer orders. The position also removes day-to-day ordering, inventory management, customer order management, and production scheduling responsibilities from Program Managers so they can remain focused on program execution and customer coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Leadership
- Own overall supply chain performance, including purchasing, material availability, inventory control, incoming customer order monitoring, and supplier performance.
- Focus on relieving Program Managers from ordering, managing inventory, and managing customer orders.
- Develop and maintain a process for monitoring incoming customer orders to assess on-time delivery risk, production impact, and material requirements.
- Partner with operations to ensure customer demand is translated into executable production plans.
- Establish and lead SIOP and related planning disciplines to align demand, capacity, inventory targets, and business priorities.
- Develop and enforce inventory strategies, including safety stock, reorder points, lot size alignment, and replenishment planning to balance service, cash, and risk.
- Lead supplier performance management/audits, including risk evaluation, delivery, responsiveness, quality, and corrective actions.
- Implement and manage supplier agreements and NDA’s.
- Establish and maintain a competitive bidding process for all major purchasing categories.
- Drive annual cost reductions through supplier negotiations, sourcing improvements, inventory optimization, and process efficiency.
Production Planning and Scheduling
- Develop a formal production scheduling process based on customer demand, available capacity, labor, machine availability, tooling constraints, and internal resources.
- Work closely with production and operations leadership to create achievable schedules and proactively manage constraints.
- Monitor schedule performance and recommend adjustments to improve execution, customer service, and plant efficiency.
- Develop escalation processes for shortages, late materials, demand changes, and capacity conflicts that could affect customer delivery.
Operational Excellence
- Use data, root cause analysis, and cross-functional problem solving to improve on-time delivery, inventory turns, days on hand, supplier performance, and schedule attainment.
- Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and applicable customer requirements within supply chain processes and records.
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Serve as the primary internal lead for supply chain coordination across customer service, Program Management, production, engineering, tooling, quality, and purchasing.
- Communicate supply risks, schedule constraints, and recovery plans clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- On-Time Delivery (OTD), Inventory Turns / Days on Hand (DOH)
- Supplier Scorecards, Schedule Attainment
- Annual Cost Reductions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of progressive supply chain, planning, purchasing, inventory, or operations experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in injection molding or tooling.
- Experience developing production planning and scheduling processes tied to customer demand and internal capacity.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, inventory control methods, and supplier management.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 requirements is preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with regular presence on the production floor to support planning, scheduling, and issue resolution.
- Close collaboration with production, quality, engineering, tooling, customer service, and leadership teams.
- Occasional travel to suppliers or customers as needed.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday (7AM - 5PM), onsite
- Ability to Relocate: Wood Dale, IL 60191 - The company is relocating to Bloomingdale, IL, by the end of 2026

Job Type: Full-time
Annual Salary: $125,000-$160,000 (depending on experience)
