Description:

Position Title Teacher, Child Care Center (Ages 3-4). This is a Full-Time, hourly position.

Position Summary

The St. John Bosco Child Care Center Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 3-4 years old. This position supports the Catholic mission of the childcare center while implementing curriculum that promotes spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The Child Care Center Teacher works collaboratively with families, administrators, and support staff to ensure each child's well-being and growth.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to pass background check and health screening
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification for infants and children
  • Commitment to Catholic values and mission
  • Valid driver's license (if transportation duties are included)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Previous experience working with Child Care Center-aged children
  • Certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • Knowledge of Catholic faith and theology

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support learning across all developmental domains
  • Observe and document individual child development and progress
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding their child's growth and behavior
  • Model Catholic values and integrate faith-based learning into daily activities
  • Supervise children during meals, transitions, outdoor play, and rest time
  • Support children's social-emotional development and conflict resolution
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families

Essential Job Functions

  • Classroom Management – Establish and maintain consistent routines, expectations, and positive discipline strategies aligned with the center's philosophy
  • Curriculum Implementation – Deliver developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that address cognitive, physical, social, and emotional learning objectives
  • Child Supervision – Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision of assigned children at all times
  • Health and Safety – Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols; respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies
  • Documentation – Complete daily reports, attendance records, incident reports, and developmental assessments
  • Parent Communication – Provide regular updates through conversations, written reports, and scheduled conferences
  • Faith Integration – Lead prayer, teach Catholic values, and incorporate religious education into daily routines
  • Professional Development – Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and maintain current certifications

Important Job Functions

  • Prepare and organize classroom materials and learning centers
  • Assist with transitions between activities and prepare children for dismissal
  • Support children with personal care routines (toileting, handwashing, hygiene)
  • Facilitate positive peer interactions and model appropriate social behavior
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning styles and needs
  • Collaborate with families to support consistency between home and school
  • Participate in center events, activities, and celebrations
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with licensing requirements
  • Model enthusiasm for learning and a love of Catholic faith

  • Noise Level – Moderate to high noise levels typical of Child Care Center environments
