The Insulation and Moisture Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting crawl spaces and building structures to identify moisture intrusion, mold growth, pest activity, and insulation deficiencies. This position installs and replaces insulation, vapor barriers, dehumidification systems, and waterproofing solutions to protect structures from moisture damage and improve energy efficiency, and resolve existing and potential pest problems.. The specialist operates specialized equipment, adheres to safety standards and company policies, and performs pest control services as needed. This role is essential to maintaining the health, safety, and long-term integrity of residential and commercial properties through effective moisture management and environmental control solutions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Inspection & Assessment: Evaluating crawl spaces for signs of mold, water damage, wood rot, and pest infestations.
- Encapsulation & Waterproofing: Sealing vents and installing heavy-duty vapor barriers.
- Debris & Insulation Removal/installation: Safely hauling out old damaged insulation, rodent droppings, and construction debris and installing new insulation.
- Moisture Control: Installing and maintaining commercial-grade dehumidifiers.
- General Pest control services: Safely apply products to tackle pest infestations
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Confined Spaces: Requires navigating very tight, narrow, and dark passageways under floors.
- Physical Exertion: Involves continuous kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Hazardous Conditions: Technicians frequently work around insects, rodents, mold spores, and standing water.
- Equipment Use: Requires the safe and efficient operation of power tools, drills, and specialized insulation equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Physical Stamina: High tolerance for demanding labor in uncomfortable temperatures and poorly ventilated areas.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of construction, carpentry, plumbing, or HVAC is highly preferred.
- Safety Protocol: Strict adherence to OSHA standards, which often requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators and hazmat suits.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent experience
- Present a professional appearance including wearing an approved uniform
- Able to work a 40-hour work week
- Drug-free workplace
- Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
License/Certification:
- Must be a licensed pest control professional
- Driver's License (Required) with at least 3 years of driving experience excluding a permit
