Job Description

RCM Accounts Receivable Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a RCM Accounts Receivable Specialist based in the United States.

This remote, full-time role focuses on keeping the healthcare revenue cycle moving by resolving outstanding accounts receivable and removing billing bottlenecks.
You’ll work closely with behavioral health practices to investigate denials, rejections, holds, and claim-level questions.
Your expertise will directly support stronger cash flow, cleaner claims, and more efficient revenue cycle operations.
The role combines hands-on AR ownership with opportunities to identify patterns, improve workflows, and increase touchless claim processing.
You’ll use modern revenue cycle technology and AI-powered tools as part of your daily problem-solving toolkit.
You’ll also deepen your expertise in specialized interventional psychiatry billing, including Spravato, TMS, and ketamine.
This is an ideal opportunity for an adaptable, analytical billing professional who thrives in a fast-moving, technology-driven environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Own AR follow-up: Manage outstanding accounts receivable across 30-, 60-, and 90+ day aging buckets, prioritizing high-value claims and taking action to maximize cash flow.
  • Resolve billing obstacles: Address claims holds, edits, rejections, and denials to keep clean claims moving through the revenue cycle and reduce avoidable delays.
  • Improve claim automation: Identify recurring patterns and rule opportunities within revenue cycle systems that can increase the touchless claim rate and reduce unnecessary manual intervention.
  • Partner with providers: Work directly with practices to gather missing information, resolve denials, answer billing questions, and help prevent recurring claim issues.
  • Handle escalated inquiries: Serve as the claim-level billing resource for Customer Success, Implementation, and Account Management teams, researching complex questions and providing clear, accurate answers.
  • Apply billing expertise: Navigate office E&M billing, place-of-service rules, telehealth requirements, and state- and payer-specific modifier guidelines, translating reimbursement policies into appropriate billing actions.
  • Build specialty expertise: Expand existing behavioral health billing knowledge into interventional psychiatry services such as Spravato, TMS, ketamine, and comparable treatments.
  • Drive quality improvements: Audit and clean up AR backlogs, identify recurring issues, and recommend improvements to templates, SOPs, workflows, and team processes.
  • Communicate with providers: Deliver concise, professional messages that clearly explain denial resolution steps, billing findings, and required actions.
  • Communicate internally: Proactively raise blockers, questions, and risks through appropriate channels and help maintain fast, transparent team communication.
Requirements:
  • AR experience: 2+ years of hands-on accounts receivable resolution experience, including denials, rejections, appeals, aging management, prioritization, and cash-flow optimization.
  • Behavioral health billing: Direct experience processing behavioral health claims, with familiarity with medication management visits, psychotherapy add-on codes, and mental health telehealth services.
  • E&M and telehealth expertise: Strong understanding of standard office E&M billing, place-of-service rules, and state- and payer-specific telehealth requirements, with the ability to interpret payer reimbursement policies independently.
  • Payer portals: Experience working with major payer portals such as Availity, Navinet, PayerCompass, or payer-specific systems.
  • Technology mindset: Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or comparable platforms as part of everyday work and able to explain how they improve productivity or problem-solving.
  • Communication: Open, direct, and professional communication style, with the confidence to raise blockers quickly, ask precise questions, and give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a startup or scale-up environment where priorities, processes, and workloads can change quickly.
  • Work authorization: Must be based in the United States and authorized to work without sponsorship.
  • Preferred: Experience with Candid Health, interventional psychiatry billing, Spravato, TMS, ketamine, IOP/PHP, or other high-acuity behavioral health services.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Notion, Slack, Pylon, or similar modern collaboration and workflow tools.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
Benefits:
  • Salary: $55,000–$65,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Equity: Equity package available to eligible employees.
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote, full-time W-2 position open to candidates anywhere in the United States.
  • Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Family support: Generous family leave benefits.
  • Financial benefits: 401(k) plan plus FSA and dependent care FSA options.
  • Wellbeing: Mental health benefits and resources.
  • Time off: Flexible paid time off.
  • Professional growth: Opportunity to develop specialized expertise in interventional psychiatry revenue cycle management while working with modern, AI-enabled healthcare technology.
  • Impact: Contribute to improving revenue cycle efficiency for behavioral health practices and supporting access to innovative psychiatric care.
