Staff Accountant in Leesburg, Virginia at VALOR BUYCO LLC

Valor Fleet is hiring a Staff Accountant to help run the day-to-day finances of our daily operations. You'll reconcile accounts, and help with the month-end close. You'll also handle billing that's specific to towing. It's a good fit for a detail-oriented accountant who likes a fast-paced, hands-on business and wants to see how their work keeps trucks on the road.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Month-End Close

Prepare journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations for bank, credit card, loan and clearing accounts

Track fixed assets

Help prepare monthly financial statements and revenue reports by service line

Compare software data to the accounting system so every job is billed

Payroll & Compliance Support

Prepare records for sales tax, IFTA/fuel tax, audits and year-end tax filings

Track insurance policies, claims and certificates of insurance for commercial customers

Follow internal controls and handle cash deposits from yard releases and drivers

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience

2+ years of experience in AR, AP, GL or full-cycle accounting

Strong software skills and intermediate Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)

Solid understanding of GAAP, reconciliations and month-end close

Very accurate, organized and able to meet deadlines

Clear communicator who can work with dispatch, drivers, customers and outside vendors

Preferred:

Experience in towing, transportation, trucking, logistics or automotive services

Familiar with motor club billing or insurance claims processing

Knows fixed asset accounting for fleet vehicles and equipment financing

Payroll experience, including commission-based pay
