About This Position
About the Role:
The Accountant in the Health Care and Social Assistance industry plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial health of the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic financial planning. The Accountant will analyze cost accounting data to optimize resource allocation and improve operational efficiency. They will also conduct bank reconciliations and manage the general ledger to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in cost accounting and financial accounting within a healthcare or social assistance environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger management, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in bank reconciliation and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Experience with accounting software and systems relevant to the healthcare industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience with financial audits in a healthcare or social assistance setting.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle Financials.
- Familiarity with healthcare billing and reimbursement processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, examine, and analyze financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles and regulations.
- Perform cost accounting to track and control expenses related to health care services and social assistance programs.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to verify and reconcile bank statements with internal financial records.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and classified.
- Generate and review balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports to support management decision-making.
- Assist with financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide insights for budgeting and forecasting.
