Job Description

Software Engineer, Expansion (all levels)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, Expansion (all levels) based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to build products that help growing companies manage increasingly complex applications and workflows.
You’ll work as a product-focused, full-stack engineer with end-to-end ownership of meaningful projects.
The position combines software development, product thinking, technical decision-making, and close collaboration with design and product teams.
You’ll contribute to a modern cloud platform designed to help developers deploy and scale applications without managing complex infrastructure themselves.
The environment is fast-moving and collaborative, with opportunities to influence both the technology and the way engineering teams work.
You’ll help evolve the codebase as the platform grows while keeping usability, reliability, and developer experience at the center of your decisions.
This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys ownership, pragmatic problem-solving, and building products at scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Build new products and user-facing capabilities that help larger teams and organizations manage applications as their needs grow.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of full-stack projects, from understanding the problem and shaping the solution through implementation and delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate customer needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Contribute to team planning, roadmapping, goal-setting, and prioritization while helping define the direction of new product areas.
  • Improve and mature the codebase, architecture, and engineering practices as the platform scales in users, functionality, and complexity.
  • Make pragmatic technical and product decisions while balancing user experience, maintainability, reliability, and delivery speed.
  • Work across the technology stack, contributing to backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and other components as needed.
  • Help shape engineering culture, processes, and best practices as the organization continues to grow.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities and contribute to maintaining reliable production systems.
  • Stay curious about new technologies, tools, and approaches that can improve the developer experience and product capabilities.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of professional experience building and shipping software, with experience delivering production-quality products.
  • Experience working closely with product and design stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across the stack and take ownership of projects both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong understanding of web frameworks, APIs, databases, and modern software development practices.
  • Experience working with multiple programming languages and the ability to learn new technologies effectively.
  • Strong product mindset and ability to connect technical decisions with user needs and business outcomes.
  • Excellent judgment and a pragmatic approach to solving ambiguous or complex problems.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and initiative, particularly in fast-growing environments where responsibilities can evolve.
  • Experience working at a small or high-growth technology company is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with modern software build and deployment tooling is a plus.
  • Experience building products for growth-oriented organizations or modern enterprise users is desirable.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Go, TypeScript, React, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Terraform, or Temporal is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills, humility, integrity, and a demonstrated willingness to learn and incorporate feedback.
  • Candidates who do not meet every listed requirement are still encouraged to apply if their experience demonstrates strong potential for the role.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary of $170,000–$290,000, depending on career level, experience, transferable skills, location, market conditions, and business needs.
  • Equity participation.
  • Fully remote work arrangement available in Canada.
  • Four weeks of paid vacation.
  • 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents, including support for a successful return to work.
  • Employer-sponsored health coverage, with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits and applicable FSA/HSA options.
  • Long-term disability and life insurance coverage.
  • Retirement savings plan.
  • Monthly lifestyle stipend supporting wellness, mental health and therapy, hobbies, and other personal priorities.
  • Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy.
  • Home office support for remote employees.
  • Continuous learning benefits and professional development support.
  • A collaborative, documentation-oriented culture with a strong emphasis on trust, thoughtful decision-making, and employee growth.
  • Opportunities to work on impactful cloud products used by millions of developers worldwide.
  • Visa sponsorship is generally not available for new sponsorship requests; existing visa transfers may be considered at the discretion of the business.
