Organization Overview: Through media arts education, Wide Angle Youth Media cultivates and amplifies the voices of Baltimore youth to engage audiences across generational, cultural, and social divides. Position Summary: This position is a part-time 2026-2027 academic-year position, September 2026-June 2027, for Wide Angle Programs. This part-time hourly position offers a starting wage between $20.76 to $22.50 per hour, depending on education, media/work samples, and years of professional experience. Wide Angle Youth Media is currently hiring an outgoing, dynamic, and team-oriented part-time Filmmaking Educator to facilitate the following program:

• High school Filmmaking Class: Tuesday and Thursday's from 4-7:30pm, 10-15 hours per week during the academic year. Two days a week plan, facilitate and lead our High School Filmmaking class (beginner/intermediate), for 18 high school aged youth with support from a Teaching Assistant .

REPORTS TO: High School Coordinator

STATUS: Part-time, 10-15 hours per week during the academic year.

September 2026-Mid December 2026, January 2027-Late May 2027.

THE PART-TIME HIGH SCHOOL FILMMAKING LEAD MEDIA INSTRUCTOR is responsible for the following:

• Recruitment: Assisting with an annual recruitment process, including promotion, event participation, flyering, and participant application support.
• Curriculum Design & Implementation: Support and lead the development and implementation of curriculum for your cohort(s) and lead peer teachers to support student project development during the program.
• Equipment Management: Work with the equipment coordinator to identify and reserve digital cameras, lighting, tripods, etc.
• Team Facilitation: Facilitate check-ins with the high school team to support program participants as they learn how to use media tools and produce media projects.
• Team Collaboration: Coordinate shared planning and teaching roles to support assistant teacher growth and leadership development.
• Identify and invite at least one guest artist or speaker per semester to join cohort classes.
• Program Administration: Ensure youth complete and submit all required program paperwork by deadlines.
• Evaluation: Evaluate youth growth and progress with technical and career skills.
• Project Documentation: Document behind-the-scenes pictures as well as capture youth quotes, success metrics (Pre and Post Growth Cards), and stories for the Wide Angle website.
• Attend staff weekly program meetings, department meetings, and scheduled 1:1s with your direct supervisor.
• Chaperone annual field trips, closing events, and any program celebrations.

The following skills/traits are required for the position:

• 1-3 years of advanced experience with filmmaking, image editing, audio recording, and promotional materials, with fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud programs, hardware videography tools, and other videography software.
• Previous experience facilitating/teaching high school-aged youth, working with racially and ethnically diverse and/or low-income communities.
• Demonstrated awareness of how to address and navigate systemic power imbalances through curriculum and/or artistic practices.
• Holds high expectations for each student and works to foster student achievement through building individual relationships
• Enthusiasm and passion for mentoring others and making change in communities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with citizens, staff, parents, young people, volunteers, and community groups.
• Familiarity with basic computer operations: email, word processing, spreadsheets, and basic graphics.
• Experience with curricula development, positive behavior interventions, and evaluating project success.

General Human Resources Requirements:

• Agree to and complete a fingerprinting background test that will be paid for by Wide Angle Youth Media.
• Attend Wide Angle Youth Media staff meetings on a weekly basis.
• Monitor students and producers under the age of 18 at all times. Do not leave minors with a Guest Artist, Parent, Peer Mentor, Apprentice, or Volunteer as the only supervising adult at any time.
• Prioritize Slack and Email for all communications. Slack must be checked at least once every 24 hours, M-F. All messages must be answered within 24 hours of receipt during the week or on the next day you are scheduled to work.
• Provide Wide Angle with a phone number that is checked within 24 hours, and must reply to all calls and emails, unless otherwise stated
