Position Summary

The Parking Assistant supervisor helps support the daily operation of parking areas by coordinating workflow, assisting with traffic management, and helping provide direction and support to parking staff throughout the shift. This position works alongside the team in active operational duties including vehicle and traffic flow management, guest assistance, shuttle coordination support, lot setup, communication with other departments, and responding to changing operational and weather conditions in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Successful employees in this role are dependable, adaptable, and comfortable helping lead day-to-day operations while maintaining a positive and professional guest experience. This position helps support training, communication, safety practices, and team coordination while serving as a working leader who assists with keeping operations organized, efficient, and responsive throughout the day.

General Responsibilities:

  • In addition to all responsibilities listed in the Parking Lot Attendant and Lead Parking Attendant Job Descriptions, the Assistant Supervisor must:
  • Adjust staffing levels throughout the day based on operational needs, including coordinating staffing support between departments as needed
  • Work with mountain managers to determine daily and next-day staffing needs and respond according to established staffing and call-off procedures
  • Manage staffing and workflow throughout the day by reducing staffing levels when business demands allow and ensuring employees remain productive with appropriate tasks
  • Conduct and support initial and ongoing employee training while monitoring staff performance and communicating training or operational concerns to department leadership
  • Help maintain a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment while reinforcing company policies, procedures, and confidentiality expectations
  • Coordinate communication and operational flow between parking operations, overnight parking, night security, and other departments to support consistent procedures and efficient operations
  • Monitor department supply inventory and coordinate reordering and restockingProvide logistical assessment and operational recommendations to support efficient traffic flow, vehicle organization, and parking operations
  • Communicate operational updates, guest concerns, and workflow recommendations to department leadership as needed
  • Assist with department projects and provide operational support to other departments as needed
  • Maintain familiarity with ski area operations, facilities, department procedures, and overnight parking standards
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, communication, and operational support to Parking Attendants and Lead staff
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling seasonal department employees
  • Adjust staffing levels and daily assignments based on operational needs, weather, and business demands
  • Review and approve employee timecards for payroll processing
  • Coordinate daily parking operations including traffic flow, vehicle organization, overnight parking procedures, and guest assistance
  • Perform operational responsibilities of Parking Attendant and Parking Lead positions as needed
  • Maintain familiarity with department procedures, ski area operations, company policies, and safety expectations
  • Help maintain a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment through professionalism, communication, and leadership by example
  • Hold employees accountable to department and company policies, attendance expectations, conduct standards, and reliability expectations
  • Support operational efficiency by communicating workflow needs, operational concerns, and improvement recommendations
  • Follow and reinforce department and company safety practices while promoting a positive safety culture
  • Maintain flexibility to adjust schedules and support operational demands, including weekends, holidays, and peak business periods
  • Actively support and promote a positive safety culture by following trained safety practices, identifying concerns, and communicating safety issues to leadership as trained
  • Perform additional related duties and operational support as assigned

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • Work independently
  • Experience supervising or leading a team
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of administrative processes
  • Experience with de-escalation techniques or training
  • Experience with ATV/UTV operation or similar equipment preferred

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including timely responses to managers and employees, and communication of personal needs.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Ability to communicate tasks and system adjustments efficiently and positively to a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate via email and in person with both employees and customers.
  • Ability to learn computer and administrative skills associated with employee administration and customer registration database prior to the start of the season.
  • Ability to complete and pass Mt. Baker Ski Area Vehicle Training.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to move systems forward and bring new ideas to the table.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be 21 years or older

Wage & Hour Information:

  • Starting rate begins at $19.63/hour with increases for experience, merit, tenure and future WA State minimum wage adjustments possible.
  • This is a seasonal, variable hour position. Hours per week may vary between 5-40+ hours/week. Expected end date for position is April 18, 2027, unless otherwise approved by management.

Requirements:

Physical Requirements

Working in the mountain environment is physically demanding. You need to be in good health and in good physical condition and have the ability to perform the following:

  • Bending, twisting, lifting, and moving items throughout the day
  • Ability to work outside in inclement winter weather
  • Ability to lift and move 60 pounds (or more depending on the task)
  • Standing and or sitting for long periods
  • Climbing and descending stairs
  • Shoveling and moving snow
  • Standing and walking on compact snow and ice
  • Perform repetitive tasks as necessary

Position Requirements:

  • Annual training provided by Mt. Baker Ski Area must be completed as a condition of position employment.

  • Anti-Harassment Reporting Training
  • Department Trainings as assigned
  • In Person Attendance to Leadership Training prior to season start.
  • Employment in lead positions is contingent upon the successful completion and review of a background screening including Motor Vehicle Record check. Applicants listed on the National Sex Offender Registry are not eligible for employment in lead positions.
  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements identified in the Mt. Baker Ski Area Accident Prevention Plan.
  • Employees are responsible for providing and maintaining required safety-toed footwear and a headlamp in accordance with the Accident Prevention Plan. Other required personal protective equipment and safety equipment will be provided by Mt. Baker Ski Area and must be properly used, maintained, and worn as required.
