Assistant Director of Financial Aid in Mars Hill, North Carolina at Mars Hill University

The primary responsibilities of this position are to counsel and award financial aid to incoming and returning students, as well as provide customer service via telephone, email, and in person.

POSITION SUMMARY- Using the basic concepts of financial aid and college policies, the Financial Aid Counselor will assist in the awarding of financial aid to students at Mars Hill University. The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, working with students and parents on the completion of all necessary paperwork, packaging, loan applications, financial literacy, and providing administrative assistance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide excellent customer service by answering the telephone, seeing in-person appointments, and answering e-mail inquiries
Comply with all federal, state, and institutional policies
Advise parents and students on all aspects of financial literacy
Communicate with all enrollment staff for recruitment and retention of students
Provide administrative assistance with calendar management, office supplies, and filing
Other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum of one year of financial aid experience preferred
Ability to handle large volumes of work and accurately track details
Ability to handle information in a confidential and professional manner
An understanding of Windows XP, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
Strong commitment to service to students and parents
Strong communication and time management skills
