Senior Manager - Performance Engineering

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Manager - Performance Engineering in Brazil.

This role is a senior technical leadership position focused on redefining how performance, load, and resilience are engineered across large-scale digital and retail systems. You will lead the design and implementation of next-generation performance engineering platforms, including AI-driven and agentic systems, to support eCommerce and retail applications across global markets. The position involves building a greenfield performance testing ecosystem spanning cloud and edge environments, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and observable. You will collaborate with distributed teams across multiple regions, including the Americas and Asia, driving standardization and innovation in performance engineering practices. This is a highly strategic role combining deep technical expertise with leadership, platform vision, and innovation in AI-enabled engineering. It is ideal for someone passionate about shaping modern performance engineering at enterprise scale.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead the design, development, and execution of performance engineering platforms and strategies, ensuring scalability, resilience, and high-quality digital experiences across global systems. You will guide teams, define standards, and implement advanced testing and observability frameworks.

  • Design and implement AI-enabled performance, load, and chaos testing platforms
  • Build and evolve greenfield performance engineering systems across cloud and edge environments
  • Lead global performance testing efforts across eCommerce and retail digital platforms
  • Define performance metrics strategy, including web performance indicators and business-relevant KPIs
  • Oversee implementation of tools for load testing, chaos engineering, and performance monitoring
  • Collaborate with engineering, SRE, QA, and product teams to ensure platform adoption and alignment
  • Establish observability and monitoring frameworks using modern tooling and best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement in performance engineering processes and automation strategies
  • Partner with global teams across US, India, and Latin America to ensure execution consistency
  • Explore and integrate GenAI and agentic AI solutions into performance engineering workflows
Requirements

This position requires extensive experience in performance engineering leadership within complex enterprise environments, combined with strong technical expertise in cloud platforms, testing tools, and modern engineering practices. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with strong leadership and communication skills.

  • 7+ years of experience in performance, load, and chaos testing for enterprise systems
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing engineering or platform teams
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Expertise in performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, K6, and Gremlin
  • Experience with front-end performance tools such as Dotcom-Monitor or LoadView
  • Strong understanding of web performance metrics (PSI, CrUX) and observability strategies
  • 2+ years of experience with monitoring tools such as New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk, or Noibu
  • Strong development skills in languages such as Java and C#
  • Experience in platform engineering and scalable performance architecture design
  • Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and Lean engineering principles
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Interest or exposure to GenAI and agentic AI in engineering workflows
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (Master’s preferred or equivalent experience)
