About this Role
The General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) Finance team is looking to fulfill a position for a full time Estimator. In this role, the Estimator will support the development of proposals for GDLS products and services. The Estimator will work closely with proposal team members to ensure all cost inputs are accurate, conform to Company procedures and meet Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). The ideal candidate will be able to work closely with others, in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple proposals in varying stages of development. As the Estimator, candidates will be given complicated high visibility proposals while expecting to maintain a steady flow of smaller proposals. In addition, the Senior Estimator will prepare proposal presentations for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), track negotiations and support internal/external audits.
Responsibilities include:
- Actively participate in core team meetings to adhere to proposal schedule and proposal requirements.
- Assist in the analysis of the customer requirements, translating those requirements into specific instructions to all internal GDLS functions and monitoring the responses for conformity to the instructions.
- Review estimated hours and cost by function as it relates to the scope of work.
- Prepare summaries, reports and submittal documents that consolidate costs and text into comprehensive volumes using the pricing software ProPricer.
- Complete all necessary customer deliverables.
- Present proposal to leadership using both verbal and written forms of communication.
- Support contract negotiations and prepare pricing artifacts as needed through award.
- Participate in peer reviews.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Train and mentor new employees.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software applications with significant experience using MS Excel
Understanding of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
Experience in Program Management, Finance or Accounting and/or Defense Industry
Additional Information
Excellent written and oral communication skills are a MUST. The estimator is expected to communicate across the organization, present to leadership, and provide guidance to the core team.
Rare business travel may be required to customer or supplier location.
Candidate must have strong organizational skills
Candidate must be highly self-motivated and proactive
Must be able to manipulate and analyze large amounts of data
