Job Description
This is not a remote position, must reside in the Lynchburg, VA area.
SUMMARY
This role will support various HR functions within our organization and will possess a wide-ranging knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices, coupled with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and effectively engage with employees. The HR Generalist will be the primary contact for assigned locations, which is subject to change.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a variety of day-to-day HR administrative functions.
- Coordinate end-to-end talent acquisition efforts for new hires and internal transfers/promotions.
- Assist with position control and org chart management.
- Provide support in various HR functions such as benefits, policies, performance management, training, etc.
- Assist with benefits open enrollment and wellness program.
- Initiate and monitor all 90-day and annual review processes.
- Uphold HR policies, ensuring fair and consistent application across the organization.
- Proactively identify and address employee relations concerns to ensure timely, appropriate, and consistent resolution.
- Support opportunities for employee development by assisting with implementation of training programs.
- Keep accurate employee records, including data entry and documentation.
- Stay abreast of labor laws and regulations, ensuring organizational compliance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Collaborate on initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Support employee events, programs, and initiatives.
- Occasional overnight travel to branch facilities or for training as needed.
- Serve as a back-up to other HR team members and assist with special projects, as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required and 3-5 years HR generalist background including working knowledge of employment regulations and compliance requirements; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Paylocity software experience a strong plus.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification are preferred or expected to achieve within two years.

- Ability to gather facts, organize processes, develop recommendations, and make decisions in a wide array of HR-oriented situations while interacting with people at all levels of the organization.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. There is potential for eye strain from reading detailed materials and looking at a computer screen. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
TRAVEL
If travel is needed, a valid government driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, as determined by company standards and insurer requirements, are required. All vehicles operated for Company purposes must be legally registered with appropriate government authorities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet and within an office setting.
