Description:

The Banquet Manager is responsible for coordinating operations of all food and beverage functions held in the venue and all details pertaining to meeting and event space, keeping with the standards as set by Spooky Nook Sports.

Essential Job Functions

  • Determines set-ups in conjunction within cross functional departments
  • Coordinates functions with banquet staff and leadership, Chefs and back-of-house staff, other food and beverage departments, convention services team, event services and sales team.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction is achieved through effective supervision and delegation of functions, service management and presentation, and checks on food quality and courteous performance of entire banquet staff.
  • Coordinates with Service and Kitchen staff on fast and efficient food service to maintain event needs as well as waste.
  • Establishes high standards of quality service and maintains them through effective training and continuous upgrading of products to enhance level of service and event presentation.
  • Completion of weekly schedules. Schedule staff as necessary to ensure adequate and consistent levels of service that reflect the volume and revenue of each event.
  • Completion of Banquet Bar Requisitions
  • Maintains records, event reports, staff, inventory management, and payroll costs.
  • Manages the department budget in partnership with the Executive Chef.
  • Ensuring that services meet customer specifications.
  • Engages and attendants all mandatory meetings, such as but not limited to: BEO, Forecasting, Client Pre-cons, Monthly Sales Meetings, 1:1 with the Food & Beverage Director, Accounting, IT
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in both front of the house and back of the house operations
  • Conscious of business volume reacts either increasing or decreasing when volume of business is up or down.
  • Detail oriented cash handling, invoicing, and accounts payable management.
  • Maximizes profits in banquet department through effective management techniques based on knowledge of business volume, keeping in mind at all times guest satisfaction.
  • Keeps updated in new food and beverage trends and event design trends.
  • Sets the pace and the good example for successful quality operation.
  • Maintains monthly inventory of all banquet equipment and products.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2-5+ years of experience in banquet management operations or a related field
  • Preferably has a degree or certification in Hospitality, Food Service, Culinary Trade, and/or related field
  • Has experience with food costing, BEO, P & L, and/or budget reports
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to read, speak and understand the English language
  • Language skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication?
  • Leadership skills; Inspires respect and trust from others; provides vision, inspiration and guidance. Experienced in setting goals and developing individuals
  • Open availability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Highly dependable with a history of consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Dependable transportation to and from work
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Working Conditions

  • Work environment: Upbeat, high-energy sports and event complex with heavy foot traffic and frequent large crowds. With some work in an office environment.
  • Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to perform physical activity that includes moving about the work area, long periods of standing, walking, talking, hearing, and sitting for long periods of time while working on a computer. He or she will frequently be required to bend, reach, lift, push and pull. The team member will be occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. He or she is required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Lifting requirements: The team member will be required to lift, push, pull, lower and/or move up to 25 lbs. regularly.
  • Noise Level: The noise level in this environment is variable.
  • Work schedule: The work schedule fluctuates to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays dependent on the booked business as well as the administrative duties.
