Job Description

Account Manager – Agriculture (Beef & Dairy)

The Account Manager serves as the lead for agriculture clients, helping drive integrated marketing and communications programs. This individual is responsible for managing client relationships, coordinating projects, monitoring industry trends, supporting strategic communications, and ensuring work is delivered on time and on budget.

The ideal candidate has experience in agriculture and possesses strong communication, organization, and project management skills. They are naturally curious, proactive, and comfortable translating complex agricultural topics into meaningful communications for a variety of audiences.


Primary Responsibilities


Client Management

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients.
  • Lead weekly client meetings and prepare agendas, meeting notes, and action items.
  • Anticipate client needs and identify opportunities to add strategic value.
  • Ensure exceptional client service across all deliverables.

Research & Industry Intelligence

  • Monitor emerging issues affecting beef, dairy, agriculture, food systems, sustainability, nutrition, and public policy.
  • Conduct research to support strategic recommendations and campaign development.
  • Summarize complex information into concise client-ready insights.
  • Identify trends in consumer behavior, media, nutrition, agriculture, and food production.

Media Monitoring & Reporting

  • Conduct daily media monitoring across traditional, trade, digital, and social channels.
  • Identify emerging issues, opportunities, and potential reputational risks.
  • Assist with crisis monitoring and rapid-response communications when needed.
  • Track campaign performance and earned media results.

Strategic Communications Support

Support execution of integrated communications programs.


Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Communications, Agricultural Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in an agency, agricultural organization, commodity board, association, or corporate communications role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Experience leading client meetings.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Beef Checkoff
  • Dairy Checkoff
  • State beef councils
  • Dairy promotion organizations
  • Agricultural associations
  • Livestock production
  • Producer communications
  • Food and nutrition communications
  • Sustainability communications
  • Media relations
  • Social media management
  • Meltwater, Cision, or similar media monitoring platforms
  • AI productivity tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini) used responsibly for research, ideation, and content support

    Location
  • Flexible/Remote, with occasional in-person work for content capture or team collaboration depending on campaign needs.
