Job Description
The successful Logistics & Distribution Specialist will be a highly motivated, hands-on individual with a proven ability to support high-performing manufacturing and distribution operations. This role requires someone who is comfortable working directly in the day-to-day details of logistics, shipping, receiving, inventory coordination, and production support while also helping improve processes, communication, and overall operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can operate with minimal direction and supervision in a fast-paced, complex environment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and follow-through are essential. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as the Logistics & Distribution Specialist will work closely with internal teams, external partners, vendors, and carriers.
This role is well suited for someone who is eager to continue developing their leadership skills, contribute to a strong team environment, and grow into increased responsibility over time. Strong computer skills and the ability to manage competing priorities are critical to success in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive incoming materials, unloading trucks, verifying and counting each shipment, logging into the ERP system and storing in the appropriate rack or location; Perform the day-to-day shipping and receiving operations, ensuring compliance with productivity, quality, delivery and customer service standards;
- Pack or crate finished goods, as required per customer order in a timely manner;Setup and co
- Coordinate LTL / truck or UPS shipping of daily shipments, arranging for pickups, creating BOL’s, loading trucks and coordinating with Sales on customer expectations and delivery requirements. Log shipping information into the ERP system;
- Coordinate with production, sales and customer service as necessary to schedule, ship and report on customer deliveries;
- Maintain and enhance the organization of the shipping and manufacturing areas, with 6S and Lean methods, improving capacity, efficiency and orderliness;
- Assist with an efficient flow of materials throughout the shop and the reduction of waste in movement and activities;
- Supports and models STARC Systems values and mission.
- Includes other duties as assigned that are relevant to the role and in support of company needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, shipping and receiving, or distribution.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and freight or carrier management tools.
- Knowledge of LTL and FTL freight processes, carrier selection, and rate coordination.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail in documentation.
- Effective communication skills with both internal teams and external logistics partners.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production and distribution environment.
- Dependable team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
This is a first shift position with hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The pay range for this position is $23.00 to $24.00 per hour.
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at STARC Systems.
