Supplier Quality Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan at Amaneos US, Inc.

Position Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that all materials, components, and services provided by suppliers meet the company’s quality standards and specifications. This role involves evaluating supplier capabilities, conducting audits, resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement across the supply base. The SQE acts as a key liaison between suppliers and internal teams such as engineering, production, and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct initial and periodic supplier product audits (Supplier product audits).
Independently manage supplier quality issues from initial identification through permanent corrective action and closure.
Review and validate supplier documentation including PPAP, FMEA, and control plans.
Issue and manage supplier corrective actions, for nonconforming products and recurring supplier issues.
Ensure supplier adherence to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other applicable standards.
Monitor supplier performance using KPIs such as Defects Per Million (DPM), On-Time Delivery, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and quality dashboards.
Lead suppliers through root-cause analysis and corrective action using appropriate problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and other structured methods.
Collaborate with suppliers to implement and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
Coordinate and drive immediate containment when supplier-related quality issues are identified, establish clear containment requirements for affected material, including sorting, inspection, rework, controlled shipping, or replacement as appropriate.
Ensure affected material is identified and controlled throughout the supply chain.
Work directly with suppliers to establish rapid response plans and minimize production disruptions.
Verify containment actions are effective before releasing material from containment.
Escalate recurring issues and support supplier development initiatives.
Work closely with procurement, engineering, and production teams to align supplier quality with product requirements.
Support design and process changes by ensuring supplier readiness and compliance.
Participate in APQP and DFMEA/PFMEA activities during new product introduction.
Maintain accurate records of audits, inspections, and supplier communications.
Prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and customers.
Support internal and external audits with supplier-related documentation.
Support audits related to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and applicable VDA requirements.
Manage and maintain the incoming inspection process for supplier materials and components.
Establish and maintain incoming inspection requirements based on part risk, supplier performance, specifications, drawings, control plans, and customer requirements.
Review incoming inspection results and identify trends or recurring supplier issues.
Work with receiving and production personnel to ensure nonconforming supplier material is properly identified and controlled.
Issue and manage DMRs (Defective Material Report) for supplier-related nonconforming material.
Maintain accurate records and ensure timely closure of supplier-related DMRs.
Analyze DMR data to identify supplier trends and recurring quality problems.
Work closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Receiving, Production, and Quality teams to resolve supplier issues.
Support new product launches, engineering changes, and supplier process changes from a quality perspective.
Ensure compliance with Amaneos policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to Quality.

Preferred Education and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field)
3–5 years of experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality engineering with knowledge on commodities like Plastics, Stampings, Paint, Fasteners, and Interior components.
Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, SPC)
Highly Competent in Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc..) and teams.
Must be self-oriented, pro-active, team-player and multitask based on requirements.
Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills are needed with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
AIAG IATF Supplier and Internal Auditor Certification.
