Job Description

Position Title: Engineering Data Contractor (Autodesk Vault)

About Us

At Intramotev, we are dedicated to revolutionizing the freight industry by liberating tons of freight from congested highways, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing transportation efficiency. We are deploying self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles to transform freight logistics and bring innovation to our rail network.

Based in St. Louis, MO, we are committed to promoting industrial revitalization, saving lives, and minimizing the environmental impact of trucking/transportation. We actively foster a work environment for every teammate that's welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunities for professional growth. Find your future with us.

Role Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Data Contractor (Autodesk Vault) to clean up the part and document records in our Autodesk Vault database and move parts through our engineering release process, in support of the development of our self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles. Our Vault has accumulated inconsistent part records, incomplete properties, and a release-process backlog. This role is the focused set of hands that closes that gap: correcting iProperties and user-defined properties, fixing category and lifecycle assignments, resolving duplicate and orphaned records, and running parts through release from the administrative side. This is a data and process-execution role, not a Vault server administration role and not a design role — IT and the engineering lead own the server, installs, and permissions architecture, and the design team authors the parts.

This is a fixed-term contract: approximately three months, full-time at roughly 40 hours per week, hourly and non-exempt, with a defined end date and possible extension by mutual agreement. It is a 100% in-office role based in St. Louis, MO, with no travel — the Vault environment and the engineers who answer part-intent questions are both here. The successful candidate reports to the mechanical engineering lead, works from a prioritized backlog, and works within a team of 1-10 engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Part & Document Data Cleanup: Correct and complete iProperties and user-defined properties, fix category and lifecycle assignments, resolve duplicate and orphaned records, and normalize part numbering and naming against our conventions.

  • Release Process Execution: Move files and items through lifecycle states, check revision and drawing completeness before release, chase down missing signoffs or missing data, and keep released records consistent.

  • Data Quality Auditing & Reporting: Work from a defined parts list, track progress against it, and surface systemic problems — a convention nobody follows, a lifecycle rule fighting the workflow — rather than silently patching each instance.

  • Documentation: Leave behind a written record of the conventions applied and the decisions made, so the cleanup holds after the engagement ends.

  • Collaboration: Escalate judgment calls on part intent to the mechanical engineering lead instead of guessing, and report progress without close supervision.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly rate: $25-$30 per hour.

This is an hourly, non-exempt, fixed-term contract position of approximately three months at roughly 40 hours per week. It does not include Intramotev's full-time employee benefits package.

About You: Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.

  • Hands-on Autodesk experience — Vault, Inventor, Fusion, or AutoCAD. Direct Vault experience is preferred but not required; Inventor or Fusion experience plus a willingness to learn Vault qualifies.

  • Working understanding of engineering drawings, part numbers, revisions, and bills of materials (BOMs) — able to tell a released drawing from a work in progress.

  • Exceptional attention to detail on repetitive, data-heavy work; the value of this engagement is accuracy over speed.

  • Comfortable working from a prioritized backlog, reporting progress without close supervision, and asking questions or escalating rather than guessing on ambiguous part data.

  • Clear written communication — the documentation trail is a deliverable of this engagement.

  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.

  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment as an individual contributor.

  • Available for a full-time, on-site engagement of approximately three months at roughly 40 hours per week.

  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:

  • Autodesk Vault specifically — lifecycle states, categories, the item master, revision schemes, or Vault-Inventor data management.

  • Exposure to a PDM or PLM system of any flavor (Windchill, Teamcenter, SOLIDWORKS PDM, Arena) and to formal engineering change or release processes.

  • Data cleanup or migration at scale — bulk property edits, CSV/Excel-driven imports, or Vault job and batch tooling.

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and manufacturing drawing conventions.

  • Spreadsheets for tracking and reconciling large record sets.

  • Scripting exposure (PowerShell, Python, or the Vault API) for bulk edits.

  • Interest in the Rail, Electric Vehicle (EV), automotive, or heavy machinery industries.

Typical Education and Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor and/or Master), or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. relevant internship, co-op, or university research/project experience).

This position does not offer relocation.
