Hourly Rate: $20.00

Hours Per Week: 8 Hours

Woodshop Monitors are essential members of the woodshop community, providing support during evening and weekend hours when the shop is open. They help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment by assisting users, reinforcing safe shop practices, and ensuring the shop remains clean and functional.

Primary Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safety by reinforcing established tool safety practices and policies.
• Answer questions and provide assistance with basic shop operations and workflows.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive working environment for all woodshop users.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the woodshop, including work surfaces, shared spaces, and tools.
• Manage the tool checkout and return system, ensuring tools are properly tracked and stored.
• Report safety concerns, damaged equipment, or other issues to the Woodshop Managers.

Job Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Hands-on experience with woodworking tools and machinery, including: band saw, compound miter saw, panel saw, drill press, belt and disc sander, planer, jointer, router table, cordless drill, hand held routers, and various hand tools.
• Solid knowledge of woodworking safety practices and emergency procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; capable of assisting students with a wide range of experience levels.
• Effective organizational skills for handling inventory, materials, and daily shop operations.
