General Summary:

We are looking for a Construction Materials Field Technician to perform on-site testing and inspections of construction materials, including soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials used in construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical and construction materials testing, possess excellent attention to detail, and have the ability to work effectively in diverse and challenging environments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field testing and inspections of construction materials according to industry standards and project specifications.
  • Perform soil compaction tests, concrete slump tests, concrete cylinder testing, and asphalt density tests using specialized equipment.
  • Ability to perform all ATTI certified tests in the field.
  • Document and report test results accurately and timely, ensuring data integrity and compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure materials are installed and used in accordance with project specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and other team members to address any concerns and resolve issues related to materials testing.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on construction sites.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to project teams, as needed.
  • Keep detailed records of tests, inspections, and other relevant information.
  • Strictly adhere to OSHA and company policies.

Job Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty proficiently. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Occupational Health and Safety, or a High school diploma or equivalent: additional technical education or certifications in construction materials testing are a plus.
  • Previous experience in geotechnical and construction materials testing, preferably in a field technician role.
  • All field level certifications (Nuclear Safety, ACI, and ATTI field). Preferred not required.
  • City of Phoenix certified tester or ability to secure certifications within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to operate and maintain testing equipment used in materials testing.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documenting test results and observations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift/move heavy equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to and from construction sites.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times.
