GENERAL FUNCTION

Manage department outreach, education, and recovery support for community. Direct planning and implementation of strength-based mental health wellness prevention and recovery activities. Provide supervision and oversite for mid-level staff of behavioral health team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate planning, implementing and documenting suicide/mental health/addictions prevention, recovery activities, and other outreach services to meet the needs of the community.
  • Participates in and is trained in suicide prevention models such as QPR, Safe Talk and CALM and can provide this training for other staff, as needed.
  • Plans and coordinates suicide prevention trainings for new and existing staff, at least once per year, which includes scheduling of rooms, participants, trainers, and equipment.
  • In collaboration with KCC administration, develops education materials for community and client consumption.
  • Coordinate group prevention sessions for high-risk youth and their families affected by mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Plan and coordinate community outreach education related to mental health/SUD prevention and recovery.
  • Document and track suicide prevention activities and progress and provide required reports, by specified deadlines, using established tools and guidelines, which comply with grant and other reporting requirements.
  • Participate in prevention and recovery planning meetings with other Puyallup Tribal and community agencies, who serve youth, to accomplish program, grant and agency goals.
  • Participate in meetings, webinars, and calls with other departments and project staff, as needed, to obtain project related training and technical assistance.
  • Supervise and oversee client advocate, peers, school counseling team, and others as appropriate.
  • Maintain current, accurate and detailed records for each client contact, in accordance with WAC and other accreditation guidelines.
  • Establish reporting mechanism with detailed plan/reports submitted to Program Director 45 days prior to scheduled event and within 10 business days following an event.
  • Utilize and provide established marketing materials at events, or create other related mental health materials, on topics such as: stigma reduction, recovery, and health promotion.
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field
  • One (1) year experience in behavioral health planning
  • Experience training others and ability to supervise others
  • Knowledge of behavioral health case management, peer work, at-risk populations, and ability to work with youth and families
  • Two (2) years experience working independently and demonstrated ability to develop flyers, education materials and infographics
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and developing detailed reports
  • Experience and/or ability to work with electronic health record systems
  • Must be able to obtain a current WA State Counselor license upon hire
  • Experience in tribal communities preferred
