Job Description
Silicon Valley Medical Development is currently seeking a talented Patient Care Representative to join our growing healthcare team!
Pay:$27.03- $28.96
Location: San Jose, CA
Shift: Day shift -Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Silicon Valley Medical Development is recruiting full-time Schedulers for our El Camino Health Multi-Specialty Care outpatient practices located in San Jose, CA.
The Scheduler creates and schedules patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner. He/she facilitates communications throughout the medical practice.
Front Office Duties
- Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information to patients
- Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner
- Oversees waiting area, coordinates patient movement, reports problems or irregularities
- Instructs and answers questions of patients regarding appointments, scheduled procedures and testing. Coordinates pre-op testing as directed by physician
- Reviews Reminder Calls Report on a daily basis. Follows up with “attempted, but could not get through calls,” crosschecks to no show report and follows up in rescheduling when necessary
Scheduling
- Schedules patients' appointments, procedures, or surgeries
- Adjusts and/or verifies physician and office schedules daily
- Verifies necessary information in the EMR, various insurance plans, and obtains authorizations for scheduled procedures as needed
- Ensures all necessary paperwork such as consent forms and allergy lists are completed and on file
- Reviews all instructions with the patient and collects fees such as co-pays
Performs all other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities

- Adheres to HR, safety, HIPAA and compliance policies, and attendance requirements

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year experience in a medical office or outpatient/ambulatory care organization
- At least one (1) year experience of medical terminology required
- Word processing and computer experience
- Experience working with an EMR
- Ability to accurately type a minimum of 40 WPM
- Strong verbal and written communications, and active listening skills
- Solid patient/guest relations skills with the ability to communicate in a professional, courteous and efficient manner
- Ability to perform basic math
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize task in order to complete assignments within the time allotted to maintain standard workflow
- Ability to work effectively as a team member who is flexible, cooperative and willing to assist others
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
