Job Title: QC/QA Lead (Quality Control Lead)

Reports To: Food Safety and Quality control Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QC/QA Lead to oversee and ensure the highest quality standards in our pickle manufacturing processes. The QC/QA Lead will be responsible for verifying product quality, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and maintaining effective communication with production teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HACCP principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of QC technicians.

Key Responsibilities:Quality Inspection in the Production Line for Pickle Manufacturing:
  • Raw Material Inspection:
    1. Inspect incoming raw materials (e.g., cucumbers, spices, vinegar, and other ingredients) for quality, freshness, and compliance with specifications.
    2. Verify supplier certificates of analysis (COAs) and ensure materials meet established standards.
    3. Reject or quarantine non-conforming materials and document findings.
  • In-Process Quality Checks:
    1. Monitor the brining process to ensure proper salt concentration, pH levels, and fermentation conditions.
    2. Verify the accuracy of ingredient measurements and mixing procedures during batch preparation.
    3. Inspect pickle texture, color, and size consistency throughout the production process.
    4. Ensure proper filling and sealing of jars or containers to prevent contamination or leakage.
  • Finished Product Inspection:
    1. Conduct visual inspections of finished pickle products for defects, such as improper sealing, foreign materials, or inconsistent packaging.
    2. Test finished products for critical quality attributes, including taste, texture, acidity, and brine clarity.
    3. Verify label accuracy, including ingredient lists, nutritional information, and expiration dates.
    4. Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
  • Sanitation and Hygiene Monitoring:
    1. Perform swab tests on equipment and surfaces to verify proper sanitation and prevent cross-contamination.
    2. Monitor employee hygiene practices, including handwashing, glove usage, and adherence to GMPs.
    3. Ensure cleaning schedules and sanitation protocols are followed rigorously.
General Quality Control Duties:
  • Verify product labels for accuracy and compliance.
  • Complete daily GMP paperwork and maintain accurate records.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections to ensure equipment is safe and ready for production.
  • Communicate effectively with production teams to maintain and improve quality standards.
  • Investigate and report supplier non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in document reviews and preparation for 3rd party audits.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party labs for external testing as required.
  • Ensure adherence to all GMPs and company quality standards.
  • Oversee the hold and release of products based on quality assessments.
  • Assist with new hire orientation and employee retraining programs.
  • Supervise and verify that QC team members are performing their duties effectively.
Qualifications:
  • General knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles.
  • Proven experience in a quality control or assurance role, preferably in food manufacturing or production.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to train and mentor team members.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software and quality management systems.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in quality control, food safety, or a related field (e.g., HACCP, SQF, etc.).
  • Experience in a GMP-regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with 3rd party audit processes and requirements.

4/10's Schedule- (Monday through Thursday)
7:00am-5:30pm.
4/10's= 40hrs.
