About This Position

The Financial Aid Associate I provides excellent customer service and guidance to financial aid applicants and their families throughout the financial aid application process; determines eligibility within the parameters of institutional, state and federal requirements.


REPORTS TO:
Financial Aid Officer II


  • Provide advising on the financial aid process to prospective, new, and current students and their families, with thorough knowledge of available financial aid types, scholarships, and eligibility criteria.
  • Review financial aid applications and supporting documentation to verify the accuracy of information reported on the FAFSA, requiring knowledge of federal regulations and IRS tax laws.
  • Verify and process FAFSA files.
  • Maintain awareness of interdepartmental policies affecting student financial aid eligibility.
  • Participate in professional development activities at state, regional, and national levels to stay updated on federal and state regulations and changes in aid programs.
  • Use conflict resolution skills to assist disgruntled students and parents, helping them understand their situations and identify potential solutions.
  • Ensure student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Provide Exit Counseling information to students upon withdrawal, graduation, or dropping below half-time status.
  • Work assigned schedule and comply with timekeeping policies.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Associate degree

PREFERRED:

Bachelor’s Degree

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Two (2) years’ experience in Financial Aid or related field.
