Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Self-Pay Follow Up Representative follows up on outstanding patient accounts and unpaid balances. Representative utilizes electronic billing and medical retrieval systems as well as knowledge of medical billing and customer service to resolve outstanding self-pay account balances and to maximize collections.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED with 2 years relevant customer service experience
Preferred: 2 years progressive work experience in a hospital billing, professional billing or shared services environment. Experience with Epic’s Resolute Hospital or Resolute Professional Billing Applications.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, families, public, co-workers, and professional offices. Knowledge of hospital and physician base patient management and automated systems. Able to effectively supervise a team composed of direct and indirect reporting relationships.Detail-oriented, good organizational skills, and ability to be self-directed. Ability to learn quickly and meet continuous timelines, exhibit behaviors consistent with principles of excellent service and demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment.
