About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, coordinates, implements and assists with communications, marketing, and community engagement projects and programs in support of TCA initiatives; provides generalist support within the department; drafts written content; assists with updating and maintaining website content, social media platforms and databases; organizes and attends community and other special events; interacts with and educates the public about TCA. Assists Clerk of the Board and acts as back-up to Clerk of the Board as needed; provides confidential administrative support on behalf of the Clerk of the Board and/or the Chief Executive Office and Boards of Directors; assists with communications to TCA Boards of Directors, their staff, and outside agencies; and performs other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provides support to the Chief External Affairs Officer; Director, Communications; Media Relations Manager; Clerk of the Board, Executive Assistant to CEO, and/or other departmental staff.
- Coordinates and conducts a variety of duties in support of assigned TCA programs, projects, and initiatives including but not limited to communications, marketing, community outreach, government affairs, writing and editing of reports, and general administration.
- Coordinates and administers communication and marketing programs to external agencies and organizations as required.
- Coordinates and assists with assigned departmental projects and programs, including planning, development, research, and writing support.
- Uses strong writing, editing and proofreading skills to assist in the development of the Agencies’ Committee and Board reports, agendas, and minutes.
- Provides support to the Clerk of the Board for agenda planning and conducting monthly committee and board meetings.
- Manages Chamber of Commerce and other stakeholder memberships and participates in fulfilling membership opportunities.
- Provides assistance with social media activities including writing posts, compiling and analyzing data, and implementing social media campaigns.
- Assists with website updates, including weekly closure and detour information.
- Assists Media Relations Manager with TCA’s daily news clippings.
- Assists with coordination of and attendance at community and special events.
- Participates in planning, scheduling, and coordinating the WTS Academy, Plein Aire, Mobility 21, or other assigned TCA events; creates invitations and develops event agendas and materials; books speakers and coordinates with vendors; assists with booth set-up.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field combined with proven experience in community outreach, public relations, writing, and communications experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge of:
- Marketing and social media principles, practices, and techniques.
- Principles and practices of public relations and community outreach.
- AP Stylebook
- English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation applicable to business writing.
- Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel at an intermediate to advanced level.
- Processes and procedures pertaining to project management and event planning.
Skills in:
- Working in a generalist capacity and performing various types of communications, marketing, and community outreach activities.
- Drafting written content in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
- Interact effectively with TCA Board Members, their respective staff, and other elected officials and community leaders.
- Public speaking and interacting with customers, potential customers, and the public.
- Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with TCA staff, community leaders, and vendors.
- Effectively managing projects and completing work assignments within established deadlines.
Additional Requirements:
- This role may require attending evening meetings and weekend functions as well as working extended hours to meet the needs of the Agencies’ public outreach programs.
