Summary
The Quality Control Technician will perform all Examinations and Coordinate Inspections at Corval’s custom piping and sheet metal fabrication shops.
Responsibilities
- Apply/Audit quality control/assurance specifications, codes, and standards, and contribute to the quality culture.
- Follow safety protocols and demonstrate safe work behaviors, contribute to the safety culture.
- Perform Visual Inspection to AWS and ASME codes
- Witness welding qualification testing
- Maintain welder continuity, weld log
- Maintain weld log and weld maps
- Verify material receiving
- Monitor the control and issue of welding electrodes
- Coordinate inspection and testing methods for Radiographic, Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic Inspections, and Positive Material Identification
- Review inspection reports
- Check test packages for NDT compliance prior to testing
- Selection of items for non-destructive testing
- Monitor and review Post Weld Heat Treatment
- Issue nonconformance reports
- Prepare Packing Slips and verify shipping
- Travel to other company fabrication facilities/job sites as required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of related experience, preferably in an industrial construction/fabrication environment.
- Experience as a welder in a piping, vessel, tank, sheet metal or structural shop preferred
- High School Education or Equivalent Required.
- Associates Degree in Inspection or Manufacturing -Related Field highly preferred.
- AWS CWI preferred
- Knowledge of ASME and AWS with demonstrated application preferred
- Working knowledge of MS Office Excel, Word and AutoCAD or similar preferred
- Shop Drawing experience and/or piping isometric drawing experience a plus
Working Conditions
- Fabrication shop environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels
- Construction site environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels
- Ability to drive a vehicle to and from the project site, less than 25% of the time
