About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY
The Part-Time Parent Resource Coordinator supports the delivery of parenting education and substance use prevention workshops to families and youth in Flagstaff. Working alongside the full-time Parent Education Facilitator, this role helps implement evidence-based Active Parenting classes, assists with Substance Use Prevention Workshops, and supports activities at the Family Resource Center located in Downtown Flagstaff.
The coordinator participates in outreach efforts, attends educational awareness events in the Flagstaff area, and helps promote Parenting Arizona’s community-based services to families, caregivers, and youth. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate data and attendance records and assisting with the development and distribution of a community-facing e-newsletter. This position plays a valuable role in supporting positive parenting practices and expanding program access throughout the Flagstaff community.
SPECIALIZATIONS
Must demonstrate proficiency in using various computer software for community mapping and resource management. Must possess excellent planning and organizational abilities, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, commitment to maintaining up-to-date training and certifications in accordance with agency, program, and curriculum requirements is expected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education/Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in child development, family studies, psychology, social work, or a related area of study, or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2 years working directly with culturally and economically diverse populations of parents, infants, and children
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
Other Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to safe, reliable transportation with valid automobile insurance
- Must possess a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance card
- Complete CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire and maintain certifications throughout employment
- Minimum of 20 hours of continuing education and competency building per fiscal year, including but not limited to Relias Learning, conferences, workshops, and/or outside training
- Knowledge and/or experience in infant and child development, parent-child attachment, potential behavioral health dynamics of caregivers, and dynamics of child abuse and neglect
- Knowledge and/or experience with strength-based and family-centered provision of primary prevention services
- Ability to assist in identifying individual/family strengths and planning/advocating around individual/family goals
- Knowledge and/or experience with community resources and understanding how to navigate/access these resources for families (e.g., social service agencies, behavioral health provider systems, and developmental disabilities divisions)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including being nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathic, patient, and tactful
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to promote clear understanding
- Ability to be self-motivated and work independently, while also collaborating effectively within team dynamics and under direct supervision to meet program requirements/objectives
- Bilingual (English and Spanish/Navajo/Hopi) preferred
