About This Position

Student Developer:

Student developers will be responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software projects for various startup companies incubating at the CIE. Developers will produce software design documentation and source code for proof-of-concept applications over the course of 10-12 weeks, using agile tools and methodology. Students will assist in gathering and documenting user requirements for the project.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in software programming languages such as Python, Java, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with software source code control systems such as GitHub
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as wiki systems, issue tracking systems, and team communication software.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency in REST interface development
  • Familiarity with database system interfaces
  • Familiarity with industry standard software documentation processes
  • Familiarity with agile software development processes

Student Designer:

Student designers will be responsible for designing and assisting in the implementation and testing of the user interface for software projects for various startup companies incubating at the CIE. Designers will produce visual designs, wireframe diagrams, and graphics assets for the user interface, as well as ensuring that the interface meets all industry and regulatory requirements (i.e. ADA and other accessibility requirements). Students will assist in gathering and documenting user requirements for the project.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in visual production software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma
  • Familiarity with software source code control systems such as Github
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as wiki systems, issue tracking systems, and team communication software

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements and regulations
  • Communications and writing skills for producing test documentation and reports
  • Familiarity with industry standard software documentation processes
  • Familiarity with agile software development processes
