About This Position

OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY
The Outreach Specialist will play a vital role in participating in community outreach events to increase awareness of all Department of Mental Health (DMH) and Domestic Violence Supportive Services (DVSS) programs, provide education regarding trauma inform care, and build and maintain partnerships and collaborations with legal entities, healthcare and social services providers throughout the agency’s service areas. The goal will be to increase access to care for mental health services for children, transitional age youth, families, adults and older adults expanding the agency’s reach to persons that have experienced trauma.

  • Wide-degree of creativity, independent judgment, and strategizing in order to build and nurture partnerships and determine best tools to drive engagement, achieving desired results.
  • Understanding of technology and demonstrated ability to learn new programs and software quickly to create the most impactful presentations, campaigns, marketing materials.
  • Expertise in navigating various social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, etc.).
  • Expertise in research, utilizing internet and search engines effectively and appropriately, and knowledge of community resources.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with key staff at legal entities, healthcare, and social services providers to build client referral mechanisms and promote cross-referral opportunities.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive outreach programs and initiatives that promote Amanecer’s programs and services.
  • Provide quality customer service with established collaborative partners through outreach, education, training, and troubleshooting.
  • Meet prospective clients, actively listen, and provide information in a compassionate and non-threating manner.
  • Gather resources that may support clients in the DMH and DVSS programs and develop key point of contacts.
  • Daily tracking and monthly analysis of outreach efforts, pinpointing successes, areas for improvement, and opportunities.
  • Maintain website, social media accounts, and monthly newsletters, including research to support positive engagement on social media postings and other campaigns.
  • Deliver prepared or impromptu presentations effectively to small and large groups for legal entities, healthcare and social services providers.
  • Consult and collaborate with agency staff to develop and produce marketing materials for referral sources and potential clients.
  • Work collaboratively with administrative and clinical professionals, including therapists, case managers, and support staff.
  • Actively participate in all required meetings, trainings, and other activities as directed.
  • Travel throughout the community, including transporting materials and supplies for events and community presentations.
  • Comply with HIPAA requirements of privacy and access of records.
  • Respect and adhere to the policies and procedures of the organization, as well as professional rules or ethics and legal practices.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet programmatic, departmental, and agency needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education/Background:

  • Bachelor’s in social work, social services, psychology, and from an accredited university.
  • CA Drivers license and the ability to travel throughout the community.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Prefer a minimum of 4 years direct outreach in public relations, healthcare and social services providers and legal and law enforcement entities.

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and trends in outreach service coordination and public relations.
  • Experience in successful communication, presentations, and marketing campaigns.
  • Prefer experience in case management, linkage, and working within a team.
  • Prefer experience working with trauma and trauma survivors from underserved populations, working with both children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Experience working with multiethnic/cultural clients and communities.
  • Experience working with community and government agencies.
  • Ability to manage diverse projects, be flexible, and work collaboratively.
  • Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, including correspondence and reports.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and networking skills to interact effectively with leadership, staff, community partners and prospects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, especially Microsoft teams).


HYBRID REMOTE: Position is hybrid remote and requires in-person appointments and events in the office and the field, meeting with clients, prospects and community partners as needed. Employee must be available to work outside of normal office hours as needed to attend and/or facilitate events, transport materials and supplies or meet with community partners as needed.
