About This Position
Position Description:
Summary:
Onboard Logistics is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ocean Export Coordinator to join our team. The primary focus of this role is to manage and execute ocean export shipments, ensuring compliance, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of ocean export shipments from booking to final delivery.
- Coordinate with carriers, depots, and trucking companies for container movement and scheduling.
- Verify freight rates against contracts and request payment when applicable.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation in compliance with carrier, customer, and customs requirements.
- Maintain clear communication with customers and overseas agents regarding shipment status, exceptions, and costs.
- Monitor shipment KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize service and reduce costs.
- Ensure timely invoicing and cost confirmation for accurate job management.
- Track and resolve service failures, identifying root causes and proposing solutions.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree in Logistics or related field preferred.
- Experience: 2 years.
- Certifications: Hazmat, IATA, or TDG certifications preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CargoWise highly desirable.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, especially in cross-cultural settings.
- Ability to manage pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of U.S. customs, AMS, TSA, and export regulations.
- Understanding of container creation/loading.
- Being able to sort the release and create a container while taking into consideration the volume and the weight as well as not separating client orders.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Primarily office-based with moderate noise levels.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), sitting for extended periods, and use of computer equipment.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks under mental pressure and deadlines.
