Job Description

INFICON is seeking a highly skilled and strategically minded Commodity Manager for Electronics & Contract Manufacturing (CEM) to lead global sourcing initiatives for electronic components, PCBAs, and contract manufacturing services. This individual will own the commodity strategy, develop a bestinclass supplier base, and drive cost, quality, and riskmanagement initiatives across a complex and technically demanding supply chain.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical acumen in electronics, deep experience navigating volatile component markets, and the ability to partner closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to ensure continuity of supply for INFICONs highprecision instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Commodity Management

  • Develop and execute the global sourcing strategy for electronics components, PCBAs, and contract manufacturing services.

  • Monitor electronics market trends-pricing, lead times, allocation risks-and translate insights into proactive sourcing decisions.

  • Build and maintain should cost models to support negotiation, cost competitiveness, and long- term category planning.

  • Drive annual cost reduction initiatives through competitive sourcing, BOM optimization, and supplier led productivity improvements.

Supplier Selection, Qualification & Development

  • Lead supplier identification, RFx processes, and qualification in partnership with Engineering, Quality, and Operations.

  • Manage strategic suppliers through performance reviews, KPIs, and continuous improvement plans.

  • Establish dual source strategies, mitigate EOL risks, and ensure supply continuity for critical electronics.

  • Collaborate with global procurement teams to align commodity strategies and leverage cross site volumes.

Contract Negotiation & Commercial Management

  • Negotiate supply agreements, pricing structures, and commercial terms to secure cost, quality, and capacity commitments.

  • Lead contract renewals and price negotiations using data driven analysis and market benchmarking.

  • Ensure supplier adherence to contractual obligations, delivery requirements, and quality metrics.

Technical & Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the electronics procurement SME for NPI programs-ensuring components meet cost, lead time, and sourcing requirements.

  • Partner with Engineering and Quality on supplier audits, corrective actions, and part standardization initiatives.

  • Support ECO impact assessments, obsolescence management, and AVL expansion.

SAP & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate SAP MM master data, sourcing records, and purchasing conditions.

  • Use SAP reporting and analytics to support strategic planning, supplier performance tracking, and business reviews.



Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related technical field.

  • Masters degree (MBA or Supply Chain) preferred.

Experience

  • 610 years of experience in commodity management or strategic sourcing focusing on electronics components, PCBAs, or contract manufacturing.

  • Strong background managing complex electronics supply chains with longlead components and multilevel BOMs.

  • Preferred experience in semiconductor equipment, analytical instrumentation, medical device electronics, industrial automation, or defense electronics.

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong technical understanding of electronic components (active, passive, connectors, sensors, PCBAs) and ability to interpret datasheets and AVLs.

  • Experience with CEM/EMS operations, including pricing structures, SMT/PTH processes, and IPCbased quality standards.

  • Proficiency in SAP MM and related procurement workflows.

  • Ability to build and apply shouldcost models and analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.

  • Familiarity with qualification processes such as FAI, PPAP, and electronics quality standards.

Preferred Attributes

  • Certifications such as CPSM, CPM, IPC CIS, CQE, CSCP, or CPIM.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problemsolving abilities.

  • Demonstrated success in supplier development, cost reduction, and crossfunctional collaboration.

  • Ability to excel in a fastpaced and evolving environment.



Additional Information

The expected salary range for this position is between $95,000 and $115,000 per year. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit-sharing bonus with a target of 10%, as well as 401K match up to 8% (vesting schedule). The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law
