Overview
Administer the daily operations of the Scene Shop. Supervise the construction, load-in, and strike of productions. For larger productions lead the backstage crews ensuring smooth technical operations during technical rehearsals and performances. Attend production meetings as needed. Oversee troubleshooting and maintenance on Scene Shop equipment and maintain inventory of tools, equipment and shop supplies. Ensure tools and equipment are in safe and proper working order; train all users of the shop in safe work practices and ensure proper safety measures are followed at all times. Supervise the full-time Theatre Technician and student employees.
Responsibilities
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Technical Theatre or Performing Arts
Required Experience:
2+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience with theatrical productions, administering budgets, and supervising staff.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of industry, local, and national safety standards. Ability to read and draft designs, schematics, construction blueprints, and plans.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $78,732.50. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
