THE ROLE

As a Senior Product Developer in the Prestige Hair Care & Styling R&D team, you will support initiatives for global Sebastian and Nioxin brands, as well as projects for the North American retail and pro market.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, qualify, and launch innovative hair care & styling products based on consumer insights for Sebastian and Nioxin brands.
  • Partner with other R&D sub-functions (Packaging, formulation, Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs, Global Test Salons) to develop learning plans for product testing and evaluation. Ensure technical readiness for initiatives - on time & with proper risk assessment.
  • Qualify product performance and define robust claims substantiation strategy.
  • Support development of scientific communication elements like claims, demos, etc.
  • Create compelling product demos to illustrate benefits, building the reason to believe in the product efficacy.
  • Assess the competitive landscape of North America Care & Styling products to identify opportunities for the development & positioning of new Hair Care & Styling products.
  • Support materials coding, registration, notifications, freedom to operate (FTO) clearance, and product compliance to enable new launches and existing base business.
  • Maintain compliance, ESG objectives, and efficiency optimization for active Sebastian and Nioxin product portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Personal Care Product Development, ideally in Hair Care & Styling or Skin.
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in biology/biotech, chemistry, cosmetic or natural sciences.
  • Experience developing & delivering initiatives from conception to launch.
  • Ability to translate consumer needs into technical deliverables & new product ideas.
  • Strong communication skills and capable of working with multifunctional groups to move project forward.
  • Drive to support claims with robust scientific approach, with ability to translate into consumer and stylist language.
  • A passion for Beauty. In touch with trends & technology in the beauty industry.
  • Communication and presentation skills for verbal and written communication (in English) of ideas, technical rationales, risks, issues and recommendations.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Open to travel regionally when needed (expected ~5-10%)

We disclose the compensation range for positions in compliance with local law. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Wella Company's total rewards package for employees. Pay Range: $85,000-$95,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonus plan or variable pay, depending on the role. In addition, Wella Company provides a rich variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance, life, and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
