About This Position

Description:

Position Summary

This position is responsible for playing a key role in the efficient operation of the warehouse by assisting with receiving, storing, and shipping products. The Warehouse Associate will ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and safely, contributing to a smooth workflow and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receiving and Inspection:

  • Unload shipments of raw materials and finished plastic bags.
  • Verify accuracy of shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Inspect received items for quality and defects, reporting any discrepancies to supervisors.

Storage and Organization:

  • Properly store materials and finished products in designated areas, ensuring optimal space utilization.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, adhering to 5S principles.

Order Fulfillment:

  • Accurately pick and pack orders for shipment, ensuring all items are labeled correctly.
  • Prepare shipping documentation and ensure compliance with shipping standards.

Inventory Management:

  • Assist with regular inventory counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Report stock shortages and help manage reordering processes for materials and supplies.

Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures specific to warehouse operations and manufacturing environments.
  • Participate in safety training and contribute to maintaining a safe workplace.

Equipment Operation:

  • Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues to supervisors.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production and shipping goals.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the warehouse.
  • Provide feedback on workflow and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Physical Demands

1. Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.

2. Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking on concrete floors throughout the shift.

3. Reaching and Bending: Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching overhead to store or retrieve items.

4. Manual Dexterity: Use of hands and fingers for tasks such as operating machinery, packing orders, and using tools.

5. Vision: Good eyesight is necessary for inspecting products and reading labels and documents.

Work Environment

1. Manufacturing Setting: Work is performed in a fast-paced manufacturing plant focused on producing plastic bags.

2. Warehouse Conditions: Exposure to varying temperatures may be subject to hot or cold conditions depending on the season.

3. Safety Protocols: Strict adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

4. Team-Oriented Environment: Collaborative work environment, requiring effective communication and teamwork with colleagues.

5. Equipment Operation: Regular use of warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, requiring proper training and safety awareness.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks as needed.
  • Familiarity with basic computer operations; experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in order fulfillment and inventory management.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends if required.
