About This Position

THIS JOB IS ONLY FOR PROJECT HOME RESIDENTS

In collaboration with the Art Program and the broader Project HOME community, the Art Instructor will develop and deliver high-quality art programming. And they will support the Art Program Coordinator in the curation of public art exhibition(s)

Classes are in person, at PH sites to be determined.

Classes are two (2) to three (3) hours long for one (1) day a week over six (6) to eight (8) weeks, with at least one (1) week before each cohort.

Hours are four (4) hours per week, between Monday and Friday, 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

Staff in the role will be rotated out after one (1) year, and a new Resident Art Instructor will be recruited.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitates once-a-week creative arts classes at a Project HOME site ? develop lessons which build to culminating work(s) by participants, plan (including creating supply list and scheduling), recruit (including at resident meetings and events), set up daily, deliver/facilitate classes, collect attendance, and clean up.

  • Supports curation of public art exhibition(s). The next planned exhibition is the every-eighteen-months Artists for All Seasons exhibition, expected for Fiscal Year 2025.

  • Support residents in participating in external sales opportunities (e.g., art vendor markets).

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements

Minimum Experience:

  • Must be a current Project HOME resident.

  • Two (2) years of participation in formal classes in Fine Arts, Art Education, Visual Arts, or a related field.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience teaching or supporting adult learners or artists.

  • Experience working with the LGBTQIA population.


Core Skills:

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Comfortable presenting to and engaging groups of people.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong ability to build relationships.


Physical requirements

  • Active work that involves prolonged standing and moving around the classroom.

  • Lifting objects up to fifty (50) pounds.
