Staff Accountant at American Portfolio Mortgage – Rolling Meadows, Illinois

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, intermediate Excel skills, and the ability to hit the ground running. Experience in mortgage accounting and familiarity with Loan Vision software are highly desirable but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Perform financial analysis and generate reports to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
• Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) are required.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with financial reporting and analysis in the mortgage industry.
• Familiarity with Loan Vision or similar mortgage accounting software.
