About This Position

Position Description:

Position Summary This role will be responsible for rebuilding legacy Excel-based pricing models, owning the end-to-end bid process, and introducing data-driven and AI-powered tools to improve accuracy, speed, and profitability.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in transportation pricing (drayage, truckload, LTL, and warehousing) and thrives in an environment focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Description of Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Pricing Model Development

Develop, refine, and standardize pricing models across drayage, truckload, LTL, and warehouse/storage operations

Rebuild and modernize existing Excel based pricing models to improve scalability, accuracy, and usability

Profitability & Performance Analysis

Track and analyze lane level and customer level profitability against bid assumptions

Identify variances and recommend corrective pricing or operational strategies

Bid Process Ownership

Own the full lifecycle of the bid process, including:

o Intake and qualification

o Data analysis and pricing strategy development

o Proposal creation and submission

o Follow up, revisions, and award acceptance

o Rate implementation and handoff to operations

Bid Engine Management

Maintain and enhance the companys bid engine to ensure consistency, efficiency, and data integrity

Streamline workflows to reduce turnaround time and improve win rates

Post Bid Analysis

Conduct detailed post mortem analyses on lost bids

Identify root causes, including pricing gaps, service misalignment, and market competitiveness

Develop actionable strategies to improve future bid success

Data Driven Pricing Strategy

Leverage historical data to optimize pricing decisions and strategies

Introduce predictive analytics and AI driven tools to enhance forecasting and pricing accuracy

KPI Development & Reporting

Develop and monitor KPIs related to:

o Bid turnaround time

o Win/loss ratios

o Margin performance

o Pricing accuracy

Provide regular reporting and strategic insights to leadership

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Drive innovation in pricing tools, automation, and processes

Evaluate and implement AI and advanced analytics solutions to improve efficiency and scalability

Ad Hoc & Financial Support

Assist with monthly and year end close processes as needed

Support preparation of:

o Monthly financial reporting packages

o Board level materials

o Annual budgets and forecasts

o Ad hoc financial analyses for leadership

Participate in the development and execution of internal audits, including:

o Billing accuracy reviews

o Invoice processing timelines

o Terminal expense allocations

o Other operational and financial control assessments

Qualifications

Education / Training Bachelors degree in finance, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Analytics, or related field

37+ years of experience in transportation pricing, logistics analytics, or financial modeling

Work Experience Strong experience with Excel-based pricing models (advanced formulas, modeling, scenario analysis)

Experience with TMS systems, bid engines, or pricing platforms preferred

Exposure to AI tools, automation, or data analytics platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Python, etc.) is a strong plus

Deep understanding of drayage, truckload, LTL, and/or warehousing cost structures

Job Skills

Ability to translate data into actionable strategies

Strong communication skills with cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, Finance)

Environmental Requirements Work is performed primarily in a professional office environment

Hybrid role with a combination of in-office and remote work

Requires extended periods of sitting, using a computer, keyboard, and multiple monitors

Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be required

Standard office equipment used, including computers, phones, and printers

Minimal physical exertion; low noise environment typical of an office setting
