Job Overview

Paulsen Mechanical Inc is seeking a highly skilled Millwright/Sheet Metal Worker to join our field operations team. This hybrid role involves both shop and field work, including rigging and setting heavy mechanical equipment, reading CAD-based drawings, fabricating custom parts, and executing high-precision equipment installations. If you're a hands-on problem solver who thrives on custom fabrication and complex mechanical challenges, this opportunity is built for you.

This role demands exceptional skill in TIG, MIG, and Stick welding, along with the ability to work with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. No two jobs are the sameevery task is custom, with no repetitive work or jigs, requiring critical thinking, design skills, and hands-on execution. Youll need to develop solutions, design, cut, fit, and weld in both field and shop environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely rig, lift, and install heavy mechanical equipment using cranes, telehandlers, and material handling equipment

  • Unload and organize mechanical equipment, ductwork, and system components on site

  • Read and interpret blueprints and CAD drawings to assemble systems accurately

  • Measure, cut, and install piping and ductwork in field and shop environments

  • Operate scissors lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and telehandlers safely and efficiently

  • Perform TIG, MIG, and Stick welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum

  • Fabricate sheet metal fittings and structures with precisionno jigs or repetitive work

  • Create basic and complex designs; cut, tack/fit, and weld both in-shop and on-site

  • Weld and assemble equipment stands and structural components

  • Use CAD software to plan and order project materials

  • Perform basic equipment maintenance, filter changes, and diagnostic service calls

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant worksite

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in:
    • Custom metal fabrication

    • Millwright installation and rigging

    • Welding and structural assembly

  • Proficient in blueprint reading, mechanical math, and problem-solving

  • Experience with TIG, MIG, and Stick welding techniques

  • Ability to work with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum

  • Skilled in aerial and material handling equipment (scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, telehandlers)

  • Familiarity with CAD software and layout tools

  • Strong can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Committed to safety, precision, and quality workmanship

  • Required Certifications:

  • OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30

  • Rigging & Signal Training

  • Forklift/Telehandler Safety Certification
