Senior Accountant
Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial statements for the two operating entities in the US, the fixed asset register, reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly. The Senior Accountant provides guidance to AP and AR staff for general ledger coding and posting. This role will maintain and supervise opening and closing of accounting periods in the ERP system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate financial statements for the US entities.
  • Create and maintain general ledger accounts and department codes.
  • Identify fixed asset purchases, capitalize per policy and maintain depreciation schedules
  • Review, code and enter payroll entries in the general ledger.
  • Maintain monthly accounting periods to ensure months are closed in a timely manner
  • Review all bank entries on a daily basis to ensure entries are accurate.
  • Reconcile inter-company transactions for accuracy
  • Assist the AP and AR departments in identifying discrepancies and provide solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business
  • Minimum 7+ years of work experience in corporate accounting or nonprofit finance department
  • Proficient in computer use including Word, Excel and other Microsoft products
  • Understanding of accounting principles and processes
  • Ability to multi-task and create and present reports to management
  • Good communication skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and use discretion where needed
  • Experienced in managing staff
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; kneel; talk; or hear, and hand grip. The employee may frequently lift, pull or push and /or move more than 50 pounds. Frequently use copier, scanner, fax machine, phone, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include: closes vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe and area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring and object into sharp focus). Specific hearing levels within normal/average range.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to inside cold or heat weather conditions; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 per year
