Description:

Overview: Primary instructor will teach at satellite locations and are responsible for upholding the policies, procedures, and expectations of EMS Education and the respective programs being taught. Instructors are the direct link between the main campus staff and our students. They are the liaison between State Fair Community College (hosting agency) and MUHC EMS Education.

Essential Duties:

Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Facilitating the educational content and execution of course abiding by Program policies and procedures.
  2. Manage the day-to-day classroom operations.
    1. Create daily lesson plans based on scheduled plan of the day.
    2. Deliver approved curriculum.
    3. Adjust the day-to-day schedule to facilitate course needs, if necessary. Example-adjusting lesson plan for heavy lecture day to accommodate more lab time or vice versa.
    4. Reschedule, open/close make-up assignments, quizzes, and exams for students based on policy/procedures.
    5. Award extra credit points in accordance with program standards
    6. Schedule tutoring sessions with students
    7. Schedule and conduct in-person exam remediation with students.
    8. Assist Program Director in test item analysis.
    9. Participate in grade reviews or disciplinary processes for students as necessary.
    10. Maintain course gradebook ensuring records are up to date.
  3. Coordinate and communicate course needs to primary program staff for successful student experiences within the program.
  4. Primary liaison with primary faculty at main campus, students, and hosting agency.
  5. Keep Program Director apprised of student concerns, needs, etc.
  6. Assist in curriculum development.
  7. Perform duties assigned under the direction and delegation of the Program Director.
  8. Provide leadership for course coordination and supervision of adjunct faculty/instructors.

Administrative Department Duties:

Timely communication and feedback to students and Program staff to facilitate a cohesive and positive learning environment for students attending courses at satellite location.

The preceding duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum of Associate degree (bachelor’s degree recommended)
  • Hold current paramedic license; and
  • Complete state instructor online training.

Skills: Have a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction. The ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner. Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess an understanding of the range of needs the college students represent. Possess commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college. Willingness to improve instruction through professional development.

Experience:

  • Emergency Medical Services experience (A minimum of two (2) years experience as paramedic)
