Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Field Applications Engineer based in the United States.
This senior technical role provides engineering support to customers throughout the PCB design and manufacturing lifecycle.
You will work closely with customer design and manufacturing teams to improve manufacturability, reliability, signal integrity, and cost efficiency.
The position serves as a critical bridge between customers, sales, engineering, pre-production, and manufacturing operations.
You will influence design decisions early in the development cycle and help customers transition efficiently from prototypes and new product introduction into high-volume manufacturing.
The role combines technical consulting, customer relationship development, design analysis, and technology roadmap planning.
You will also help manufacturing teams anticipate future customer requirements and identify opportunities to strengthen capabilities across North American and Asia-Pacific operations.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced PCB engineer who enjoys customer-facing work, technical problem-solving, and operating independently in a remote environment.
- Provide technical guidance to customer PCB designers and manufacturing teams throughout the design and development cycle, advising on routing, layout, signal integrity, stack-up configuration, materials, and electrical and mechanical requirements.
- Educate customers on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Value (DFV) principles to improve product quality, manufacturability, reliability, and development speed.
- Review customer designs and design packages to identify manufacturability, reliability, controlled-impedance, specification, and other technical issues before production.
- Help reduce design-cycle time by facilitating the resolution of issues between customers and internal pre-production engineering teams.
- Support DFM and technical-quality processes by helping resolve on-hold issues efficiently and coordinating technical requirements with customer teams.
- Communicate manufacturing capabilities, technologies, and development roadmaps to customers through technical presentations and ongoing consultation.
- Provide internal manufacturing facilities with insight into evolving customer needs, future technology requirements, capability gaps, and potential development priorities.
- Facilitate customer technical requirements with engineering and operations teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment across functions.
- Establish and strengthen technical relationships between customer engineering organizations and internal teams to improve collaboration and long-term partnerships.
- Support Sales Account Managers by providing high-quality technical expertise that helps develop customer relationships and expand revenue opportunities.
- Create and deliver technical capability presentations in collaboration with sales and other stakeholders.
- Support customer visits and technical engagements as needed, including visits related to key programs, issue resolution, manufacturing sites, and technology initiatives.
- Help guide customers through transitions from QTA/NPI to high-volume manufacturing, supporting quality and yield objectives across North American and Asia-Pacific production capabilities.
- Balance multiple communication channels across Sales, Development, Pre-Production Engineering, Operations, and customer organizations while maintaining clear technical alignment.
- 6+ years of engineering experience related to PCB manufacturing, with a strong understanding of the complete PCB manufacturing process, including process flows, individual production steps, and tooling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong understanding of PCB electrical design performance and signal integrity, including controlled impedance and insertion loss.
- Experience analyzing PCB designs for manufacturability, reliability, and performance, with the ability to identify and communicate design improvements.
- Intermediate proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints, as well as experience with PCB CAM software, tooling, and PCB stack-up tools.
- Strong knowledge of PCB manufacturing technologies and the ability to understand customer requirements across prototype, new product introduction, and high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with customer engineering and design teams.
- Strong presentation and public-speaking abilities, including the confidence to deliver technical capability presentations to customers and stakeholders.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to influence PCB design quality and manufacturing yield for strategic customers.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with limited supervision while exercising sound judgment.
- Highly organized and disciplined when working remotely, with the ability to manage priorities and maintain effective communication across distributed teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 15–25%, including customer visits and visits to manufacturing facilities in North America and potentially Asia-Pacific.
- Ability to comply with applicable export-control requirements, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and related procedures governing access to controlled products and technical information.
- Work arrangement: Remote position within the United States.
- Healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options.

- Flexible spending: Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) options.
- Additional coverage: Accident benefits, life insurance, and disability benefits.
- Paid time off: Paid vacation and holidays.
- Benefits eligibility: Benefit programs are generally available beginning on the first day of the month following the date of hire.
- Travel: Approximately 15–25% travel may be required for customer engagements and visits to manufacturing facilities.
- Career impact: Opportunity to influence PCB design, manufacturing quality, technology roadmaps, and customer outcomes across a global manufacturing environment.
- Professional environment: Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, sales, operations, development, and customer teams.
