Compensation: USD $10–$12/hour

About the Role
The firm is seeking a highly accurate and professional Spanish Translator / Legal Interpreter to support attorneys, legal staff, and Spanish-speaking clients through written translation, verbal interpretation, and bilingual client communication.
This role is ideal for someone who is fluent in both English and Spanish, has strong writing and proofreading skills, and can handle sensitive legal information with discretion. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, client-focused, and comfortable supporting legal matters in a fast-paced remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
Translation & Document Support
- Translate legal documents, correspondence, intake forms, case materials, and client communications from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
- Review translated materials for grammar, accuracy, tone, and consistency.
- Ensure all translations preserve the original meaning, context, and legal intent.
- Maintain organized records of translated documents and bilingual communications.
Interpretation & Client Communication
- Provide phone, virtual, and occasional in-person interpretation support for attorneys and Spanish-speaking clients during consultations, meetings, depositions, hearings, and case-related conversations.
- Assist with Spanish-speaking client intake, follow-ups, and ongoing communications.
- Help clients understand legal processes, documentation, and next steps in a clear, professional, and neutral manner.
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and client-service-oriented approach when communicating with clients.
Legal Team Support
- Coordinate with attorneys, case managers, and legal staff to support case preparation and client relations.
- Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in all translated and interpreted materials.
- Support administrative tasks related to bilingual client services as needed.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and care.
Qualifications
- Full fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is required.
- Prior experience in legal translation, interpretation, or bilingual legal support is preferred.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology in both English and Spanish is preferred.
- Excellent grammar, proofreading, listening, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple requests.
- Professional demeanor and strong client-service mindset.
- Translation or interpretation certification is a plus.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required with relevant experience.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a law firm, legal clinic, personal injury firm, or professional services environment.
- Familiarity with personal injury, workers’ compensation, immigration, family law, civil litigation, or related legal terminology.
- Experience using case management software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and remote communication tools.
