Clinical Operations Manager – Emergency & Med-Surg
Location: Linville, North Carolina | Full-Time | Leadership Role

- Compensation: Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity
- Schedule: Full-time leadership position with 24/7 operational accountability

- Provide operational and clinical leadership for the Emergency and Med-Surg Departments on a 24/7 basis
- Ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care delivery aligned with organizational goals and regulatory standards
- Lead, mentor, and support nursing and clinical staff while fostering professional growth and accountability
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and leadership to optimize patient outcomes and departmental performance
- Support staffing, scheduling, workflow management, and resource allocation to maintain operational efficiency
- Respond to emergent situations and provide clinical support as needed within the scope of RN licensure
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care
- Monitor quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and operational performance indicators while implementing improvement initiatives
- Demonstrate professionalism and adherence to UNC Health Appalachian’s Mission, Vision, and Values
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse preferred
- Previous healthcare experience in an acute care or clinic setting required
- Minimum of one year of prior nursing leadership experience required (Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or similar leadership role)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in North Carolina required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required at hire
- Additional required certifications must be obtained within one year of hire date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) preferred
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within one year of hire
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver safe and effective patient care within the scope of RN licensure and organizational policies
- Knowledge of emergency and acute care nursing operations
- Ability to effectively manage teams, workflows, and departmental priorities
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Commitment to exceptional customer service and patient-centered care
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient mobilization throughout shifts
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling greater than 50 lbs
- Frequent hand, finger, and wrist repetition with moderate dexterity
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, electrical/mechanical equipment, chemicals, and emergency situations
- Subject to irregular schedules including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations
- Frequent close eye work and exposure to soft voices in clinical environments
- Occasional exposure to ionizing/non-ionizing radiation including x-ray and microwave exposure
