WMC Pharmacy Director at Appalachian Regional Healthcare System – Boone, North Carolina

Location: Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Leadership Role

As the Pharmacy Director at UNC Health Appalachian, you will lead pharmacy operations at Watauga Medical Center, driving clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and team development. This role offers the opportunity to shape pharmacy services, support organizational strategy, and make a meaningful impact on patient care and outcomes within a mission-driven healthcare system.

• Schedule: Full-time leadership position with flexibility to support operational needs

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the WMC Pharmacy department
• Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance
• Lead and develop pharmacy staff, fostering a positive and high-performing work environment
• Partner with pharmacy and system leadership to achieve financial targets and key performance metrics
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance service delivery
• Support human resource functions including staffing, performance management, and team development
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Promote adherence to UNC Health Appalachian policies, procedures, and standards of behavior

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required
• Master’s Degree in Pharmacy required
• PharmD preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience required
• Prior leadership experience within a pharmacy department required (hospital setting preferred)

Licenses/Certifications:

• Active Pharmacist license in the State of North Carolina required

• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling ≥ 30 lbs
• Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday
• Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching
• Continuous hand, finger, and wrist dexterity
• Exposure to healthcare environment hazards including chemicals and equipment
• Irregular hours may be required, including evenings, weekends, and emergencies
