- Design and develop innovative digital learning experiences, capacity-building resources, and performance-support solutions for contributors at different stages of their journey.
- Partner with product teams, community groups, researchers, subject matter experts, and volunteers to understand learner needs, diagnose capability gaps, identify barriers, and uncover opportunities to strengthen participation.
- Determine the most effective learning approach for each challenge, including self-paced courses, workshops, video, interactive experiences, AI-enabled support, or learning embedded directly into existing products and workflows.
- Create learning experiences that help contributors understand new tools, workflows, policies, governance processes, and community practices.
- Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate using modern authoring platforms, multimedia, experimentation methods, and AI-powered tools.
- Apply learning science, user-centered design, and learning experience design principles to create effective, engaging, accessible, and inclusive solutions.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness through learner feedback, participation metrics, analytics, and qualitative and quantitative insights, using evidence to continuously improve experiences.
- Stay current with learning technologies, digital engagement, online education, AI, and emerging instructional approaches, identifying opportunities to expand and strengthen learning initiatives.
- Contribute to the evolution of the broader learning strategy while ensuring resources reflect principles of openness, collaboration, equity, accessibility, and knowledge sharing.
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing digital learning experiences for diverse and global audiences.
- Proven experience creating engaging e-learning, instructor-led, virtual, blended, or other modern learning solutions.
- Hands-on experience using a learning management system (LMS) to develop, organize, manage, and publish learning content.
- Strong ability to identify capability gaps, determine appropriate interventions, and rapidly design, build, test, and improve learning experiences.
- Excellent written communication and content development skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts for audiences with different backgrounds and levels of expertise.
- Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Strong commitment to accessibility, inclusive design, and culturally responsive learning practices.
- Experience working with volunteer communities, open-knowledge initiatives, nonprofits, or international organizations is a plus.
- Experience designing for multilingual audiences and collaborating across cultures and time zones is preferred.
- Familiarity with tools such as Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, video editing platforms, AI content-generation tools, or comparable technologies is advantageous.
- Experience applying product design practices such as user research, prototyping, experimentation, A/B testing, product analytics, and iterative improvement is beneficial.
- Strong curiosity about how people learn and what motivates participation, combined with the ability to balance creativity with research, data, structure, and feedback.
- Comfortable working autonomously in ambiguous, evolving environments and taking ownership from identifying a problem through building and refining a solution.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from varied cultural, linguistic, and professional backgrounds.
- U.S. annual salary range of $117,437–$177,624, with the final offer influenced by factors such as location, skills, experience, and other individualized considerations.
- Remote-first working environment, with staff and contractors distributed across numerous countries.
- Flexible work arrangements designed to support a globally distributed workforce.
- Competitive, equitable compensation practices that do not take salary history into consideration.
- Opportunities to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on freely accessible knowledge and global participation.
- Inclusive and equitable workplace committed to diversity and equal employment opportunity.
- Accessibility and reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring and employment process.
- Eligibility to work is subject to applicable country and state hiring requirements; U.S. hiring is currently available in designated states and territories.
