Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Human Resources Generalist is a HR business partner responsible for delivering comprehensive human resources services across talent management, employee relations, performance management, and culture/engagement initiatives for a manufacturing environment. This role supports all levels of the organization and plays a key part in building and maintaining a positive, engaged workplace culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Management, Recruiting & Onboarding:
• Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies
• Post job openings, screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate interview schedules
• Prepare offer letters and employment agreements; manage background checks
• Lead new employee onboarding process, including orientation, training coordination, and documentation
• Support employee development and retention initiatives
• Track recruitment metrics; identify opportunities for process improvement
Employee Relations & Performance Management:
• Serve as primary HR contact for basic employee relations matters; investigate and resolve workplace concerns and conflicts
• Coach managers on performance expectations, goal-setting, feedback, and progressive discipline
• Support performance management process; ensure consistency and compliance with company policies
• Handle employee terminations, separations, and exit interviews; manage offboarding procedures
• Maintain confidential employee records and ensure HRIS data accuracy
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies
Culture, Engagement & Inclusion:
• Identify and support employee engagement initiatives and programs to enhance workplace culture
• Plan and coordinate company events, recognition programs, and team-building activities
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; promote an inclusive workplace environment
• Communicate company news, policy updates, and HR information to employees through multiple channels
• Monitor employee morale and act as a liaison between employees and management
General HR Functions:
• Administer benefits programs, payroll coordination, and employee leave requests (PTO, FMLA, etc.)
• Prepare and communicate HR policies; maintain employee handbook and policy documentation
• Support wage and hour compliance; process and manage worker's compensation claims
• Maintain accurate HRIS records and generate HR reports and analytics as needed
• Assist with unemployment claims, references, and employment verification requests
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, OR 5+ years of progressive HR experience
• 3+ years of experience in a generalist HR role, including recruiting, employee relations, and benefits administration
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (EEO, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, etc.)
• Experience with HRIS systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities
• High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Professional HR Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent)
• Experience in a manufacturing or 24/7 operations environment
• Experience with payroll systems and benefits administration platforms
• Track record of implementing successful employee engagement and retention initiatives
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening or shift coverage to support 24/7 operations
• Ability to visit all areas of the manufacturing facility, including production floors
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and other typical plant conditions
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk as needed to perform job duties
