Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico School ofMedicine, Center for Adult Critical Care, and the Department of EmergencyMedicine (DEM) are currently seeking full-time faculty members with trainingand experience in Critical Care and academic Emergency Medicine. Successful applicants must have completed a critical carefellowship. Clinical responsibilities include direct patient careand supervision in the adult Intensive Care Units, and the EmergencyDepartments at the University of New Mexico Hospital and Sandoval RegionalMedical Center, our affiliated community hospital. Academic opportunitiesinclude participation in the teaching, administrative, and research activitieswith the Center for Adult Critical Care and the Department of EmergencyMedicine, as qualified.
UNM Health System opened a new CriticalCare Tower (CCT) in the Fall of 2025. The CCT includes 96 ICU beds, 18ORs, and a new Emergency Department. UNM Hospital has 556 inpatient beds and ishome to New Mexico's only
The UNM Center for Adult Critical Careconsists of six multidisciplinary units and is responsible for 120 CriticalCare and Critical Care step-down beds system-wide. Our team of physiciansand nurse practitioners covers more than 52 weeks of clinical service per yearacross the health system. UNM Center for Adult Critical Care isresponsible for more than 6,000 unique ICU patient encounters each year.
The Department of Emergency Medicine has95 full-time and part-time attending physicians, with Divisions of PediatricEmergency Medicine and Prehospital, Austere & Disaster Medicine. OurToxicologists run the New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center. Oureducation section includes an outstanding EM residency, multiple fellowships,and the EMS Academy. Our providers staff the Emergency Departments for UNMHospital and Sandoval Regional Medical Center, the UNM Pediatric EmergencyDepartment, and Urgent Care. Opportunities exist to provide clinical careat the Gallup Indian Medical Center and the Metropolitan Detention Center.

- Have an MD/DO or equivalent.
- Completed a surgical, neuroscience,medical, or anesthesia critical care fellowship
- Board certified or board eligible inEmergency Medicine and Critical Care.
- 3 to 5 years of directly relatedexperience, which may include time spent in residency and fellowship.
- State of New Mexico Medical license orequivalent and Federal DEA Certification at time of hire.

- Clinical skills relevant to CriticalCare and Emergency Medicine.
