Job Description

Finance Manager, E-Commerce

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Finance Manager, E-Commerce based in the United States.

This is a high-ownership finance leadership role responsible for driving financial visibility and performance across a large e-commerce business.
You will own the financial picture from topline revenue through gross margin, translating complex data into actionable business decisions.
Working closely with Merchandising, Planning, Supply Chain, Accounting, Data, and senior finance leaders, you will influence pricing, promotions, forecasting, and investment.
The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on financial modeling, reporting, and process development in a lean, fast-moving environment.
You will regularly present insights to senior executives and contribute to board-level reporting and long-range planning.
There is significant autonomy to define approaches, build scalable processes, and solve ambiguous financial challenges.
You will also help modernize FP&A through practical applications of AI that improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency.

Accountabilities:
  • Own financial visibility and performance for the e-commerce business, covering revenue, gross-to-net, unit economics, gross margin, and contribution margin.
  • Lead monthly financial business reviews, delivering clear analysis of sales, margins, trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
  • Own forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis in collaboration with Merchandising, Planning, Accounting, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Lead pricing and promotional analysis, evaluating ROI and identifying opportunities to optimize commercial performance.
  • Analyze Co-Op, DDA, rebate, and similar programs, assessing their financial impact and maintaining accurate accruals.
  • Develop SKU- and department-level reporting covering revenue through margin, while ensuring the integrity and consistency of key e-commerce metrics.
  • Build and maintain executive-ready dashboards, KPI reporting, financial analyses, and clear explanations of business performance and variances.
  • Establish new financial processes, reporting frameworks, and controls that improve transparency, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Use financial planning and reporting systems to give business leaders clear visibility into performance against targets.
  • Contribute to annual planning, long-range planning, including five-year planning, and monthly and quarterly board materials.
  • Identify and implement AI-enabled improvements across FP&A workflows to automate repetitive work, accelerate analysis, and improve consistency.
  • Proactively identify financial and operational risks and opportunities, translating analysis into recommendations that influence business strategy and investment decisions.
Requirements:
  • 5–8 years of relevant finance experience, ideally in FP&A within a high-growth consumer technology or e-commerce environment; 1–2 years at Manager level is preferred, or equivalent ownership in a lean, cross-functional finance organization.
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce financial metrics and mechanics, including AOV, gross-to-net, unit economics, gross margin, and contribution margin.
  • Advanced financial modeling capabilities, with expert-level proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets, scenario analysis, and working with large datasets.
  • Demonstrated experience owning pricing and promotional analysis, including evaluating ROI and financial impact.
  • Experience with financial planning systems such as NetSuite Planning & Budgeting, Oracle Hyperion, or comparable platforms.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies to finance workflows, including reporting automation, analysis, or financial modeling.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline; an MBA is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ambiguous questions, establish an approach independently, and drive them to clear conclusions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality control, including the ability to build model checks, reconcile outputs, and identify errors before information reaches stakeholders.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights clearly, concisely, and visually while connecting financial results to underlying business drivers.
  • Comfortable operating with significant autonomy in a fast-paced, remote-first environment and collaborating effectively across multiple functions.
  • A proactive, curious mindset with an interest in using technology and data to continuously improve finance processes.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary of $128,413–$171,229 USD, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.
  • Target bonus and competitive equity opportunities.
  • Remote-first work environment for team members across the United States and Canada.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts.
  • Generous paid parental leave and paid time off.
  • A company-wide paid Winter Wonder Week at the end of the year.
  • Remote work stipend to support your home office setup.
  • Additional programs and perks supporting physical, mental, and emotional well-being, parenting, childcare, and financial planning.
  • Opportunities for career growth, advancement, and performance-based progression.
  • Access to leading AI tools, including ChatGPT and Claude, as part of everyday work.
  • Twice-yearly opportunities to connect with colleagues in person and strengthen team relationships.
