This is a hybrid role (with a minimum of 4 days in the office per week) and is based out of our New York City office in the Union Square area.

Key responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in leading the origination, structuring, and management of various debt, tax equity, and tax credit transfer facilities
  • Implementation of new project development and capital markets transactions in the financial model
  • Implementing the relevant terms of the Inflation Reduction Act and the One Big Beautiful Bill Act
  • Manage and train the Capital Markets analyst team
  • Act as a trusted partner to internal and external teams, including legal, accounting, project managers, bankers, tax equity investors, etc.
  • Maintain positive and effective business relationships internally across Scale’s broader business
  • Proactively engage with senior leadership on investment issues and business innovation, and their impact on overall business strategy
  • Mentor and teach junior capital markets personnel on various tasks, and delegate appropriately to such juniors

The Ideal Candidate:

For you to be successful in the role, you should have:

  • 5+ years of experience financing or investing in infrastructure or renewable energy projects, including distributed generation
  • 2+ years of experience managing analyst- or associate-level financial professionals in a “deal team” structure.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering); MBA or CFA preferred
  • Demonstrated financial modeling competency to evaluate different capital structures across the various debt markets (development capital, commercial bank financing, leveraged finance, mezzanine / Holdco debt)
  • Experience negotiating, closing, and documenting debt and tax equity financings
  • Experience developing and auditing complex financial models
  • Experience with project and portfolio M&A execution
  • Demonstrated experience in originating transaction opportunities
  • Working knowledge of off-take arrangements for distributed energy
  • Experience conducting project/portfolio due diligence and managing third-party consultants and transaction counsel
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate information and strategic goals to non-financial people
  • Proactive and forward-thinking attitude, creative problem-solving ability, and the ability to “manage up”
  • Understanding of technical/commercial terms and their impact on projects
